Try it!!!! Exactly as described and really cool
I got this for Eric (owner of this account; I use his Prime account to buy him things sometimes) because he saw other people talking about it and he wanted to try it.Silly?Maybe. It seems like fewer cubes would make for a simpler puzzle. But play with it! The pieces are not constrained to stay coplanar. You can bend the plane and spin individual pieces or pairs of pieces, and that makes it interesting.Get this. Have fun. It's not super expensive for the level of quirky it brings to the table. Hop on this bandwagon.I feel weird rating the "durability" of a Rubik's Puzzle because you're not going to hammer any nails in with it, but it is well made; you can comfortably play with it without feeling like you're going to break something, so I gave it full "durability" stars.

Poor quality
I bought this Rubik’s cube so my 4 year old would have something to try and solve while my 11 year old worked on solving the traditional 3x3x3. It took less than an hour for this to break. My 4 year old wasn’t banging it against anything or playing with it roughly. I hoped it would be made a bit more durable for children to play with.

Great as a gag
We're a family of cubers, solving 2x2x2, 3x3x3, 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 cubes in minutes. This 1x3x3 is mainly a gimmick. It's not much of a challenge, but... it's great for a gag: Take three of them, put them together and leave them on the coffee table. Everyone who grabs one is surprised.

Not as frustrating as Cube
My 9 year old autistic grandson can complete this puzzle with a moderate amount of difficulty. He had a Rubik's cube, but got too frustrated when he couldn't solve it, so we took it away. This is perfect for him, for now.
