Part One only...WHY?
Many of us have waited years and years for "official" Vids/DVDs of "Man/Girl From Uncle", and I am truly thrilled Warner Archive have released "Girl". I have a couple of worries tho. Why didn't they release the Complete series in one package? It's a bit of a misnomer to label the box "The Complete Series" and then Part One, tho I suppose it's plain enough. However, it seems PART 2 is "unavailable". Why? It's very frustrating. Also...30" into ep 1 the disc froze, not a good start. I haven't been able yet to look at every episode, but those that I have checked are superb colour, and the sound is very good and so far on my set only ep 1 has "frozen" and I managed to see it all except for the opening 3 mins.. It's a high price, but quality wise (apart from the mentioned freeze), it looks wonderful, and it is a pleasure to see one of my favourite actresses and series at long last. So, it would have been a good 5 stars but for ep 1 and the fact I have to wait (how long?) for Part 2. Recomended.

Be aware of where you can play this DVD set....
Having access to multi-region DVD machines I was overjoyed to be able to buy this series on DVD at last. Unfortunately when the DVD set arrived I found it would not work in my main machine, which is a DVD recorder. On checking the small print on the back of the DVD box it seems that this item [and other similar sets I ordered recently] is not manufactured to play in either DVD recorders or on PC DVD drives - it will only play on DVD players.Luckily I can still view the series on a regular DVD player but buyers beware if they perhaps rely on using their PCs to view their DVDs.Otherwise would highly recommend this set. Only removing one star because of the sheer hassle of not being able to use my main machine to play it.

Great fun from the 60s
Remember Thursday evenings when The Man From Uncle alternated with The Girl From Uncle? My pre-teen self was hugely engrossed in both series but I really wanted to BE April Dancer, having all those wacky adventures with the charmingly off-beat sidekick Mark Slate. Stefanie Powers and Noel Harrison were perfectly cast in their roles and having bought both volumes of the complete GFU, I have to say, I still LOVE the whole thing. Here and there the plots got a little silly but who cares - MODS of all ages will love this - perfect, kitschy, full of pure 60s cliches and fashions. Hooray for whoever had the guts to dig these out the archives, do a really good restoration job, and let the public loose on them again

Just as good as I recalled from the 60's
After waiting this series to be released on DVD for years I was a bit doubtful whether it would really meet my high expectations, but it did. It's value is not in intelligent stories or superb filming, both of which it lacks, but in the way it reflects the time when it was made. Also in fashion. It's like a time machine travel for me who was a teenager in the 60's. Stefanie was a looker (still is) and her role character as April Dancer, kind of a Charlie's Angel before Charlie's Angels, is refreshing. A cult series if any. Looking forward to receive Part 2 in the mail.

Windmills of My Mind
Contrary to advice given in other reviews, I was surprised to find that my copy plays in my DVD recorder (one without a hard disc but Region Free), also in my main desk top (Region 2) and also in my lap top (Region 2) so it must be "universal". So don't be put off buying the thing; it is amazing to see Noel Harrison popping up again and Stephanie Powers really is "a looker", something I didn't appreciate at the time.
