Mg/Al, Magnalium, Magnesium Aluminum Alloy Powder -325 mesh - 1 lb

I used this for pyrotechnics for filming a 1/18 scale miniature (about the size of a large shoe).It looks cool on camera. Lots of sparks. Won’t give you a fireball on its own, but does provide flash.But this stuff is NO JOKE. It ignites relatively easily and well, it’s magnesium and aluminum... if you payed attention in science class, yeah, they’re extremely flammable. All metals are in powder form.We had several cans of fire spray, multiple extinguishers, and a water hose on hand. I think we needed it all. It took a LOT to put this fire out. Water alone will NOT put out the flames. Sparks from this can ignite secondary fires.This comes in a big bag, and a spoonful of this will burn for hours. Use extreme caution with this. I store mine in a dedicated fireproof box. Not recommended for people who don’t have a lot of experience safely handling/controlling fires.Safety, safety, safety! Don’t even think about it without at least 2 FULL SIZE fire extinguishers nearby. Stay far away from dry brush areas and anything flammable nearby. Someone on here tried to make fireworks with this and I really don’t advise that.

As soon as I got this stuff I tried it out, just a little bit of it ( maybe a spoonful) set on some wood. I ignited it with a lighter... and it got HOT, glowing and radiant hit heat. Clearly this will be handy to have for emergency fire starter when you need to get a fire going under bad conditions, like wood tbat is not dry, windy and rainy weather etc. This is probably NOT what you need for regular use, on a well planned camping trip in great weather you wouldn't want to waste it. But in one of those horrible situations where you don't have good dry wood, the wind is blowing, rain and such, then this is the stuff that will get the fire going. I am keeping a few small bottles (used pill bottles) in every emergency kit and campsite that I have. Very happy with this purchase.

with the magnesium added as powder it take nothing more then a spark to ignite! And you're on your way to burning your way through an engine block... Good times

I tried to make m-80s but didn’t work

Just received and can confirm - this stuff is fantastic for emergency fire starting. Ignited using a ferrocerium rod. Does not burn as fast as pure magnesium powder (good and does not blow off explosive parks when blowing air at it) but burns hot enough to start a fire without tinder. A 1”diameter pile will slow burn long enough to kickstart a fire and a larger pile is probably aggressive enough to start a fire under the most hostile weather conditions. Test so you know how it works before relying on it as an emergency as I am. Use a water right container and do not agitate before use - VERY DUSTY stuff.
