I love hand sewing but as I get older threading has ...
Ok I have become quite an authority on threaders over the years! I love hand sewing but as I get older threading has become more of a problem. Though they break easily this style of threaders is the best. Saying that, this brand is the lowest quality. they are also way cheaper. The best are the ones made in Japan. They are the heaviest gauge metal and the wire is secured twice. On amazon they are referred to as vintage threaders. They have the profile of delicate woman. The second best is the is the Dritz. They are made in china are a lighter gauge metal and are secured twice. This Refaxi brand are light metal and the wire is secured only once. They break easily. BUt they are soooo much cheaper. The others are close to a dollar each, where as these are $1.50 for 100! It's a no brainer. They take weeks to come but what a deal. At 15¢ it's the way to go. Remember that whichever brand you buy they are delicate and not intended for heavy threads or yarns.

What a great value!
If you put a drop of glue, like Weldbond, on the wires where they connect to the base, these little threaders will last a really long time! Lay out several and put a dot of glue on them so it will dry and they will be ready when you need them. The only problem you'll have is if you try to pull a thread through a needle that's too small for the thread; then the wire may break. If you treat the threader like it's made of delicate materials and not iron, it will be a long-lasting, trusty tool. I I sew every day - I bought these a year ago and have only broken one.

Helps us with old eyes
Do you realize how many 100 is??? When I got these, I wondered where my mind was to order so many, although they probably ended up costing 1/50th of what you would get in the store. Maybe I can find some nice fabric and put together little sewing baskets for gifts. (You can get little baskets fairly cheap. When I started using these threaders, I discovered that many break easily. Maybe I will need all 100. For those of us that need eyes or glasses on our fingertips, these are handy. All in all, a good deal.

HORRENDOUS QUALITY
I do not remember ever giving a product I've purchased from Amazon a bad review. Frankly, at this price $2.36, I questioned whether it was worth my effort and I certainly will not send them back. However, I was so annoyed that it is not a matter of money, but a matter of quality. I love embroidery and I use a needle threader to thread my needles. I buy them as I need them from just about any store where they have sewing supplies, even the supermarket. Inexpensive, long lasting and saving my eyes from eyestrain. But I loose them. God only knows how many have ended up in my Miele vacuum bag. When I saw this big packet on Amazon, I thought "GREAT!, A lifetime supply." The first five that I used broke immediately as I pulled them with the thread through the needle. I then chose a handful and tried to thread needles of varying sizes. Same thing happened. I DO NOT want a replacement or even a credit. I just want to warn anyone who thinks this is a good deal.

Lots of needle threaders!
I love needle threaders because I do some type of hand sewing every day. I do cross stitch, fine embroidery, quilting, and I hand sew the seams in my handmade clothing. That means I use a wide variety of needles, many of which have tiny eyes and are very hard to thread. Therefore, I rely on needle threaders. But, they can be very hard to find in retail stores in packs of just needle threaders. They are most often enclosed in thread assortments or small seeing kits. I don't want to buy a thread assortment every time I break my needle threader and need a new one. This huge pack of threaders solves my problem and they are so inexpensive! If I break one I have a replacement easily at hand. These are packaged nicely with the threaders bundled into 2 packs of 50, rubber banded together (exactly like the photo). It's easy to slide out one or more as needed. These are extremely reasonably priced, well packaged, and of fairly good quality. The wires do pull out easily as mentioned by a number of other reviewers. Simply pinch down on the raised area where the wires go through the backing and they will hold much better. These are an awesome value and I don't understand anyone complaining if they break easily. This pack of 100 costs less than a 2-pack at a retail store. They're simply an awesome value for a nice product. They also arrived before the earliest estimated delivery date, which was a nice surprise. I ordered a second set so I could have one set in my sewing box and one set by my sewing machine. A lifetime supply for pocket change.

Cheap. Works once modified.
These are cheap little things. They can be made to work decently with two quick modifications.1) To keep the wire from falling out at the first use: pinch the metal foil at the wire attachment with your finger nail. If you don't do this, the wire falls out at first use. I have considered putting a drop of glue there, and that would probably work. But you have to do one of these things.2) To get these to fit a fine needle (#60 on my sewing machine) you have to pinch the wire at the end. Otherwise it is too rounded. My sewing machine threader also can't deal with the #60 wire, but my expensive threader can. And so can this one, once pinched.

I put a drop of Gorilla Glue over the wire ends and slot and it holds better. It is a few seconds of trouble but ...
Thanks to the other reviews that warn of the fragility of the threader I took a close look upon receiving them. There are two wires held into a slot in the end of the dime sized metal holder. There is nothing but the pressure of the metal slot holding the two wires in. If you look closely you can see the ends of the wire sticking out on one side near the end of the holder. This is not very secure. I put a drop of Gorilla Glue over the wire ends and slot and it holds better. It is a few seconds of trouble but the threader holds up better. At this price you can't expect a lot as received in the mail.
