I looked at many fire pit kits and fire rings before I purchased this one. I wanted a heavy gauge pit ring that would hold up for years to fit a 36" interior diameter fire pit. Most of the standard fire pit "kits" I found had a 27" or 30" fire ring made of disappointingly thin materials. This Titan fire ring was exactly what I was looking for, great heavy gauge material in a larger 36" size. The attached cooking grate that swings on or off the fire on a pivot, was a nice bonus but it can be easily removed for those that might not need it. This ring really reminds me of the ones you see at state of federal campgrounds. It is really well made and looks like it will last a very long time. It also works great with the Cast Iron Bar Grate Size: 7" H x 30" W x 30" D by Uniflame that is also sold by Amazon you will see in my picture. I put landscaping blocks from a local big box hardware store around it to form a very nice addition to my patio. I did have to cut new angles on the landscaping blocks with a concrete saw to get them to fit but the finished product is very nice and exactly what I had envisioned.

The overall construction is heavy enough for a backyard firepit. The difficulty with it arose when I attempted to put the grill swivel together. The swivel consists of a piece of pipe with a threaded plate welded into one end and a cap and washer on the top. In theory, it should slipped through the grill ring and down into a ring in the base and then been bolted from the bottom to retain the assembly. In reality the swivel was not even close to fitting and could not be assembled without forcing it with a sledge hammer. One might say - well why didn't you just return it. "It" is a 70 pound steel ring and grill that arrived in a box that virtually fell apart when the plastic straps were removed, and would have cost me a great deal to return so I slammed it together and will just have to live with a fixed grill that will not swivel as advertised. This is either very poor engineering, quality control, or both, and truly unfortunate as my family and I were looking for something just like this, but functional. Update 11/8/2015 - Titan Distributors contacted me regarding my problem with the fit and offered to send me a replacement, and apologized for the trouble. The replacement arrived and went together without hassle. The construction is substantial and the grill and ring will last for years. Many thanks to Titan for responding so quickly and positively.

Thanks to the other reviews, I had high expectations for this fire ring, and I was not disappointed. It is so solid and well made that I'm pretty sure my kids will be fighting over it well after I'm gone. It is true to its size description, and setup took a whopping 6 seconds after we wheeled it into place. Our whole purpose for this fire ring is to create a dedicated area in our backyard for open fire cowboy cooking. I think this was a fantastic first purchase for the new setup.

I wish I would’ve taken a picture of the huge pile of branches we burned in this ring. Put the ring on the ground and it burned them all up in no time. A week later I added the bricks and the attachment for cooking. My brats and Italian sausages came out great! They didn’t stick to the grate. We had some rain before my pit cover came in so I did see a little rust area on the edge of the ring. But I mean, it’s steel. Isn’t that what happens when steel gets wet? I’m sure there is something I can find to coat it with to reduce the rusting, but that’s also why I bought a 50 in fire pit cover. This ring works great as is right in the ground or as an inner ring for a fire pit. Save your money buying kits at box stores that are smaller and more expensive and just do it yourself for way cheaper. On that note, I had to cut a few bricks in half to complete the circle. Just depends on the size of your bricks.

Awesome fire ring! I surrounded mine with landscape blocks and it looks great. It is definatley heavy duty and shipping was very fast. I had to saw off the tabs for the anchors to get the block surround to fit. It was a ten minute job with my Dremel which I was actually shocked it was that easy considering the heavy gauge steel but they came off. I was a little worried about this when it arrived and how I was going to navigate those anchor tabs with the block surround. I tried bending them out of the way or to better accommodate the block but they would not bend, but a Dremel with a steel cutting blade did the trick. Also, my order was missing the handle for the grate but I contacted the seller and they responded very quickly and are shipping me the missing handle. Despite all that I don't really have any complaints it looks great in my yard
