This Book Has Good Bones
I purchased “Ravished” beforeI I realized it was written by the same author as “The Paid Companion,” a book I thought ridiculous and puerile. What a happy accident this purchase turned out to be! While the writing style of this author remains nondescript at best and high-school-ish at worst, the main characters in this novel were outstanding and the plot remained engrossing even when one dimensional villains threatened to derail my enjoyment. I like villains, but the villains in this story were about as subtle as Snidely Whiplash. Harriet was utterly utterly delightful—one of my favorite heroines in any book I’ve read—and Gabriel was a long-suffering and deserving hero. There was an effervescence running through this book, even when dastardly things were happening, that grabbed my imagination and buoyed my reading experience, and I think it was because of Harriet’s unshakeable faith and trust in Gabriel no matter what happened. This is unusual in historical romances which usually depend on misunderstandings, obfuscation, or self-sacrifice to drive the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am now open to reading another Amanda Quick novel.

“Ravished” is the perfect blend of strong characters (especially Gideon and Harriet), a plot that produced one thrill after the next, and
“Ravished” will hook you and will keep you mesmerized for the duration of your reading time. It is the epitome of a tapestry woven of strong, vibrant characters (Gideon, Harriett, Mrs. Stone, and others), along with a plot that weaves intrigue, passion, action, humor, and romance into a magnificent story. I am Amanda Quick’s latest avid fan and I cannot wait to read more of her books!!!

A romping good read
Loved the wit and the dialogue. There is quite a bit of action and the plot moved really well. I could barely put down this book. Harriet is a true original and her story was a pleasure to read.

Pretty good
Interesting but drags a little after a while. Doesn't always seem to be historically accurate.

Lovely story
Scarred and depressed hero, strong indomitable heroine, evil villains, paleontology and deep sensual love. Also restoring the hero's reputation and mending the rift with his parents

Humerus and riveting
Very humerus, easy to invision the characters. Such a riveting story I didn't want to stop reading. Sorry to reach the end of the story. Would be interesting to read more of Harriet and St Justin's story to see what adventures she gets them into.

Her story lines are always a little different.
This is another lovely early Amanda Quick novel. The story line is always a little different from ordinary Regency Romances, and the intelligent and independent heroine and the strong dark hero are very much to my liking. In this novel, the heroine is an avid fossil collector, and summons the local, but usually absent, landowner to evict criminals using 'her' fossil cave. There is immediate chemistry between them as they work together to find the 'mastermind' behind the robberies. It is not always easy to get copies of these early books, but it is worth the trouble.

A story to be read over and over....
When I came across the stories of Amanda Quick, I was a goner. I lapped up everyone of them, but for some reason I always put off buying this one. However, after I had read all the others, I felt I had no choice and went ahead anyway. I can't believe how foolish I was in passing this by. The characters of Gideon and Harriet have become far my favourite, and I love how open and contradicting Harriet is. Ironically her naivety, ends up being her wisdom, and I love how she sees beyond what others have regarding Gideon. There is a couple of times in this book I chuckle because of Harriet's behaviour and Gideon's to it, and it's a story I can read over again and again.

New to me author
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Just the sort of escapism. I was looking for. I enjoyed Harriet and Gideon's sparring. The story wove through all the escapades with a touch of tension and amusement. Will read more from this author.

At least it was true to the gender
She is a bit stupid and throws herself into everything, he realises it and expect the worse. So working on those premise, the story works. If you like that sort of story is dominate, but helpless then this the story for you.
