The War of the Worlds (Great Illustrated Classics)

This retelling of H. G. Well's classic SF story is brilliantly done. The exceptional illustrations by Brendan Lynch highlight what is one of the best (and original) science fiction novels ever written. I started reading and couldn't stop! This (adapted) edition of War of the Worlds is highly recommended for all young people between 7 and 12 who enjoy a fast paced and imaginative story.

My 8 & 10 yr olds heard about H.G. Wells and “War of the Worlds” in the vintage Disney animation “Mars and Beyond.” I ordered this edition thinking the illustrations would capture their imaginations and it did, they both read it in one sitting.

My 10 year old's favorite book and now his favorite author. He loved the story, a classic, and requested more HGWells after reading this! Try it on a reluctant reader!

I love the old-fashioned prose of this book. It was a delight to read. My favorite time to read it was in bed right before going to sleep; it gave me the funnest and weirdest dreams!

Best edition of a classic for kids!

Awesome buy! Book arrived in good time. Purchased for my kids and they love it so far. It was one of my favorites as a kid and it's been well worth the buy. Arrived brand new. Has softcover unlike originals I read that had thick hardcovers.

Haven't read this book in decades! What a treat to read again. Wells uses words so clearly you can put yourself back in that time. You can see and hear what goes on. If you haven't read this book in awhile, you need to!

This series is a great way to read the classics in an abbreviated version. They are good for middle school or anyone who wants to enjoy the classics in a more condensed way. I am 13 years old and my opinion of the series is that it is great. This book is really cool and I highly recommend it. All of H. G. Wells books are must reads.
