Boys Next Door

A "classic" in it's own right...
A "classic" in its own right--a film I first saw as a teenager, nearly 30 years ago, but most folks I talk to today have never seen--"The Boys Next Door" makes for good, albeit shocking entertaining. It's about serial killers, bottomline, but in the form of two young men, who, at least on the surface, appear like perfectly normal 18-year-old boys. Awkward socially, outcasts in school, they celebrate their high school graduation by taking a road trip to Los Angeles and going on an impromptu killing spree. In no time, the police are hot on their trail, and their bloody fiesta reaches a devastating climax. In the end, despite their horrific crimes, you find yourself sympathizing in a way with the "villains," both of whom started off simply as "The Boys Next Door." If you enjoyed the film "Natural Born Killers" and/or you're keen on the television series "Law & Order," I can practically guarantee you'll enjoy this nearly forgotten gem. Either way, you might get a kick out of seeing Charlie Sheen in such in early role. Not a family flick, that's for sure, and probably not a good idea to watch before bedtime. That said, enjoy...

Looks good on bluray
I was happy to see this movie put on bluray. It’s really old so I wasn’t sure how well it would come out, but they did a great job. A little pricey but worth it.

A good upgrade to bluray
A very disturbing movie. Great acting. An all too real premise. Very ahead of its time.

Penelope Spheeris for life!
Excellent release. It even has Texacala Jones in a bonus feature. That's just too cool.

Not All That
I Liked this Movie but I Thought it Would be Different bc the Plot Says that the 2 Guys go on a Killing Spree in the Mall but Didn't End Up There Until the End. And Charlie's Friend was the Crazy One Not Both of Them. I was a Little Disappointed.

but overall it's a good movie by director Penelope Spheeris
A little-known Charlie Sheen movie about two high school Seniors who are socially rejected by their peers, and go off the deep end during a graduation weekend to L.A's Sunset Strip. Some of the acting is sub par, but overall it's a good movie by director Penelope Spheeris.

80's At It's Best!
The other 2 reviews are long, so instead of writing what's already been said, i'll keep it short!Charlie Sheen & Max Caulfield play 2 minors who have just graduated high school, they want to get away on a vacation in L.A before they start work on monday! Arriving in L.A Roy (Claufield) & Bo (Sheen) go on a murder spree, killing random victims one by one! This movie is truly 80's at it's best, the story will keep you hooked, the other 2 reviews said it will affect you, it didn't me, but it may you! 2 brilliant performances from the main stars! 5 star movie, it's gonna be hard to find a violent thriller to top this one! Best thriller in 27years!
