I purchased this item for my daughter. She’s 5’3, 154lbs so I got her an x large and if fits fine.

Q: Does pants have straight bottom

Yes they have a straight leg bottom. I ended up gifting this to my co-worker who is a true petite. Please keep that in mind.

Q: I am 5'11 and weight is 224 lbs would a a XL fit?

I purchased this for my mom. She's 5'8 and weighs 190 and it fit perfect, so I might suggest a XXL. The length was good, so at 5'11 it may be long enough for you.
