The batteries are easily replaceable with CR2032 coin batteries, which are very inexpensive in amazon. These are definitely not one-time use throwaways.

Will the battery pack fit inside a wine bottle opening? (wedding decor idea)

No it won't. It would fit inside the top of a mason jar, that is what It got it for.mYou can glue to inside of cover of quart size jar. Wine bottle opening is too small. There is a way you can drill a hole in the back of a wine bottle and pass the wire thru that way, but it is a real pain to do that, you need a diamond tip drill bit and it's easy to break the bottle when you do it.
