I recently started using my Dell G7 Gaming laptop to DJ with. Being a Windows machine, it has been a journey to learn how to get the best performance for delivering the best and most stable audio performance using Serato DJ Pro. But I noticed when I ran iTunes playlists or other sounds out of the headphone jack into the aux on my DJ board that there was a humming buzz sound I had not noticed before. Had a fantastic support call with Dell technicians who shared with me that the best sound source within my laptop was actually the NDVIA graphics card's "HDMI Audio" and suggested I try an HDMI audio extractor device to get the best audio, far superior than that which the headphone jack on my laptop was able to deliver. I purchased this one from avedio links and tried to use it connected to my 4k monitor and no "HDMI audio" source came up in my Windows settings. I reached out to avedio links for support and they explained to me that the only way I can get "HDMI audio" to come up as a sound output option from my laptop was to plug the HDMI cable into either a television or a monitor with built-in speakers. I thought it couldn't hurt with Amazon Prime's easy return process to go ahead and buy a 27" flatscreen monitor with speakers, I chose the "SANSUI Monitor 27 Inch IPS 100Hz Computer Monitor, USB-C FHD HDR Built-in Speakers" (and so far, I really like it). Sure enough, "HDMI Audio" because a sound source option in Windows. So I first hooked up my DJ speakers to the stereo output jack on the monitor, and the sound was good, but noticed when I opened up more than one application, unwanted noise would enter the sound. But then I inserted this avedio links HDMI Audio Extractor Splitter, then connected my DJ speakers to the sound output from the splitter, and yes, my tech support friend at Dell was absolutely correct: I finally achieved superb sound output from my computer! I played Billie Eilish "What Was I Made For" because there's plenty of quiet space in that song and her unearthly pure vocals were at least for me a ready-made audio benchmark test for high fidelity audio. And yes, not only was it the best sound I ever experienced coming out of my latpop computer into my DJ speakers, but when I paused the recording, turned the speakers way up along with the computer volume, amazing, amazing, hell yes, finally, no buzz, no hum, ready go from zero noise to Rave Dance Hall Jammin Powerhouse volume, all because I discovered HDMI Sound using a good, high quality HDMI Audio Spliter, and I'm very pleased that avedio links delivered just what I desired in tapping into the full breathtaking sound my NVIDIA graphics card has been waiting to deliver, and grateful for both Dell Computers and avedio links support for helping me to get there!

just what I needed to get sound from firestick to my integrated amplifier

Everything is easy enough to connect but, once connected, I have no output from a firestick. Note, I've tested each individual piece to be working. 1) HDMI cable has been tested from laptop to television with audio coming through 2) Firestick has been in use and was tested on the same HDMI port of the television, shown working properly 3) This unit was tested as a passthrough between current HDMI connection to my laptop monitor and my laptop with no issues. Conclusion, unit cannot handle the connection between Firestick and television. Was not able to test audio as unit will not work for its intended purpose. The above unit was for a previous version. After testing the replacement unit, I've had no issues. The ease of installation is still just the same but the quality of the product has gone up. One slight criticism is that the standard audio out was replaced by a single 3.5mm connector and a converter cable, though I assume this was to allow for a smaller, sleeker unit. It hasn't degraded the audio in my own testing by any means. The included HDMI cable is good quality, good length for a standard television setup. All in all, the replacement unit has satisfied my own needs quite well.

This item worked very well in converting my TV audio into my stereo system

This HDMI audio extractor fixed a nagging problem I was experiencing with my sound bar. I recently got a new cable box that has only an HDMI output. I connected the sound bar to my TV HDMI ARC output. This led to a progressively increasing lag between video and audio which after a30 minutes was over 1 second. Very annoying. Turning the sound bar off and back on would reset the sync, but the lag would return. The same for setting the sound bar audio sync adjustment. Only temporary relief. I found many similar complaints about this problem on the internet. None of the proposed solutions worked for me. Extracting the audio from the HDMI output of the cable box before it went through the TV fixed the problem. The order process worked flawlessly and the 4K HDMI Audio Extractor Splitter arrived in less than 48 hours.

Doesnt display video signal after box. I have a streaming box that I wanted hooked to an older TV with DVI input. Now, DVI and HDMI are compatible, except that DVI cannot take audio signal. This looked like a perfect fix as it could split the signals audio and video and I could have working steaming on the TV. However when I installed the unit, I only got audio signal through. No video output whatsoever. I verified that my TV's input socket worked with a direct cable to the streaming box. I got good quality video feed, but no audio as expected. I was left high and dry in the end. I will probably end up need to get an AV receiver to bypass my issue. But this box did me no good and I'm out money on it.

Fantastic I love these things

I connected this to my laptop HDMI out, then set the switch on it to the middle '2 channel' option on this unit. Then used a 4 ft male to male RCA cable from the RCA out on this unit to connect to my receivers RCA red and white Media Player Inputs. Then connected my assignable surround back speakers (assigned them to Zone 2 in the A/V receiver Amp Assign setting) to connect to the patio speakers, and Whalla! I now have awesome music, while I can play anything else in the main zone.. heaven.. it took a lot of research to do all this but finally its all done.. hope this helps someone with the same issue. Remember to use an amplifier if you use the 'Zone 2' pre outs on your A/V receiver, they are pre outs (like a Subwoofer pre out going to a powerd sub) and so they are not amplified, unlike the surround back speaker outputs which are amplified by the A/V receiver. So for all of this it gets 5 stars. However, I tried the Amazon Fire Stick with HDMI to HDMI, connected the HDMI Out on this unit to one of my DENON receiver back panel HDMI inputs. Flipped the switch on this unit to both the 5.1 and Pass Thru modes, but neither worked, just to make sure its not the receiver, I connected the stick directly to it and it worked fine. But this one does not pass the Fire Stick HDMI Out to the receiver, others have the same problem I believe. That made it 3 stars. Update: It seems to have quick drop off problems while playing, the sound drops for a quick second or so and starts back again, very annoying, happens quite frequently every 10 mins or so. I guess I will keep it 3 stars for this issue.

I needed this device to connect my Firestick to a projector and surround sound system, and it was exactly what I needed. It’s been working perfectly and was delivered quickly and easily!

It is great alternative for older version, had been using it till now and there are no problems whatsoever. It has a nice compact design and doesn't have any heating problems. Flawlessly performs all functions like picture quality and most importantly it transmits Dolby sond effects to my hime theater for which I basically bought it. So I would say one should go for it.

Working perfectly optical in to hdmi out audio with 5.1 track. I have only one issue front center track and front left track is swaped audio But i resolved by re arange speaker cable,

It's good and works well, as long as you know the limitations for 5.1. TL;DR - Works for pretty much anything if you only need 2.0 (stereo). For 5.1 support it's a bit more complicated. It only supports the traditional DTS (the original, not HD) or Dolby Digital (not DD Plus or TrueHD). For Panasonic Bluray players, turn on BD Secondary Audio (in player settings) and the player will choose the audio track on the disc that's traditional DTS/DD. Full explanation: This device only passes 5.1 if the source is Dolby Digital or DTS (the formats that started in the 90's). If your source media has more modern formats like DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD or Dolby Digital Plus, it will skip those and only output stereo. Many streaming services these days use Dolby Digital Plus for surround sound. That doesn't work with this. It'll only output stereo since the negotiated acceptable format between player and this device is stereo. So as long as your device/player provides traditional DTS/DD then you'll get 5.1 output.
