BEST IN CLASS, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I purchased a Conair dual trimmer set 25 years ago. It had a small moustache/beard trimmer and a nose/ear hair trimmer, each used a single AA battery. IBoth worked flawlessly until this year, when a bas battery leaked and ruined one and I dropped the other and damaged the cutting blade beyond hope. I bought three different trimmers here, a Wahl, a generic cheap model, and this Conair. I tried the generic first, and it worked, but sounded louder than expected and seems to be not as tightly engineered as I might like. It was functional, at least for the short term. The Wahl brand quality has suffered over time, I used their hair clippers since 1960, and each clipper purchased lasted less time than the previous set. I did not even open the Wahl trimmer as the Conair arrived on time for me to try it first. Uses two AAA batteries, all trimming functions are combined in the single body, and it purrs like I expected it to do when turned on. All attachments function flawlessly, and it cuts with no pulling, no gaps in cutting path, and hass all the power needed to actually do a full haircut in a pinch. The cutting path/swatch is smaller than a full size hair clipper, but it cuts clean and even. It just runs circles around every other product I have used. Price is a small bit higher, but value is tremendous. I will likely be dead before this trimmer gives out, and that level of value, performance, quality, and ease of use is exactly what I have been searching for. CONAIR is the best of class, and the only trimmer I will recommend to anyone. Last note: A single small drop of oil placed on the blades will ensure that the blades remain sharp during use, and allow the stainless blades to wear evenly and retain the self-sharpening quality. Don't force it, just let the tool do the work!

Conair GMT175R
I was looking for a gizmo that would easily trim my beard, get rid of that pesky nasal hair without pain (or tickling), and the old geezer ear hair. There were lots of products that cost much more than this one, but given the astounding price of this Conair model I thought I'd give it a try; if I didn't like it I wouldn't be out of too much cash. But, I really like this! It works as advertised, and it seems to be well built (but read further). Haven't used it all that much yet, but so far the motor doesn't slow down as some older trimmers I've used do. Running at full speed is essential for easy and PAINLESS trimming, since a slow motor yanks and pulls on hair, and that isn't fun. I appreciate the smallish bag that comes with the trimmer. It holds not only the trimmer but also the various little attachments (and lubricating oil and a cleaning brush) that otherwise would get scrambled or lost in a drawer. A few gripes: (1) This comes in one of those "hard to open" clamshell plastic units. Don't like them. (2) The instructions provided aren't all that clear. For example, the instructions for removing the main blade in order to attach the nose/ear trimmer isn't very helpful. One has to do some things that you're quite certain will break the trimmer to get the blade off, but that's precisely what has to happen to remove the blade. (3) Getting the battery cover off takes lots of finesse too... so much so that I initially started looking for a place to insert a screwdriver to pry it off. Once again, some finesse does the trick. Overall, however, I'm happy with this purchase and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive but well functioning trimmer for the beard, mustache, and nose and ear.

Fast, efficient trimmer
I had been using a full size, corded hair clipper for trimming mustache, beard and sideburns but this little device is much better. PROS Fast, efficient cutting of facial hair Rechargeable AAA batteries provide plenty of power, low operation cost, good battery life Small size, easy to maneuver around face Accessories work well Battery compartment cover easy to open and close CONS Inexpensively manufactured Some plastic components are small and fragile No blade guard included This trimmer does a great job for me, very satisfied with results. However, it seems designed only for light, occasional use. Low cost plastic construction indicates durability may be questionable.

Good trim at a good price.
I purchased this trimmer to replace an older Wahl trimmer that had worn out over the years. The Conair trimmer is more quite than the Wahl and doesn't seem to pluck out as many hairs as the Wahl. The Conair trims differently than the older Wahl, but it seems to trim better. The trimming guards provided with the Conair are easier to use than the Wahl. The Conair does not come with a guard for the cutting head, I leave the number one guard attached to the new trimmer to act as a guard. It seems that the battery life is slightly less with the Conair, but it is a good trade off to receive a higher quality trim. I would recommend this trimmer to someone who is considering the purchase of beard / mustache trimmer. I have found with use that I really prefer the Conair over the Wahl I had previously used.

Much nicer than expected
After 15 years my Maverick up and died so I have been on the hunt for a new trimmer. After a lot of looking and comparing I went with the Conair. After using it for a week or so I can give it the highest rating that Amazon has. Are there better trimmers on the market? Of course. Do I miss the adjustable head on the Maverick? Yes dearly. Are the attachments on the Conair somewhat confusing and take a bit of skill to use properly? Absolutely! How can I give it 5 stars? Easy, two words- eleven bucks. Yep, eleven little dollars for this puppy. It feels good in my hand, the batteries last twice as long as they did in the Maverick, and it cuts like a dream. You can't even buy lunch for for what this costs. I cannot stand our increasingly throwaway society and I am always willing to pay a fair price for a quality product that will last, if I can find it. I expected a sketchy product when I ordered this and was thoroughly pleased when this nice quality trimmer showed up.

Poor, fragile build, but it cuts very well
I bought this to replace an earlier version from ten years ago that had gotten dull. The new one is smaller and lighter due to it's use of AAA batteries as opposed to AA. I use NIMH rechargeables. I prefer the replaceable battery type as opposed to a cord or internal rechargeables, since I can keep charged up extras nearby and swap them quickly. They seem to last for quite a while. I searched on battery operated beard trimmers, and assumed that they would all use AA batteries and didn't realize that this one uses AAAs until I received it. Fortunately, I already had some AAAs. It turned out to be a good thing, since the trimmer is lighter and a bit smaller than the old one, and better to hold. Most importantly, it also cuts very well, unlike the cheap Wahl I tried first, and as well or better than my similar older one. That's where the similarity ends though. The new trimmer is not as well made and feels more fragile. I don't think it would survive hard drop. The battery door is flimsy and harder to open, and the switch is stiff and awkward. The two cutting heads are hard to swap and feel like the small connecting parts will break sooner rather than later. The flat, small trimmer head is easier to use than the round type to closely trim a single errant hair, but it can pull, and is fragile. My very similar old one broke at the edge. The new trimmer is quite a bit louder than the old one, and vibrates more and uncomfortably. That may be because it seems to cut faster, so it's a trade off. Overall, the build quality is borderline and disappointing. That said, it cuts well and I'm going to be extra careful not to drop it. As for the accessories, I don't use them, so I have no comment.

Works perfectly.
For an inexpensive razor it works good. I will have to mess with batteries but my other one required me to bring a plug in when I went on vacation and I had to leave it plugged into the wall or rise I would have to dig the plug out and wait for it to charge.

My old trimmer was too small for rechargeable's so this is a nice upgrade. This is also coming after I bought ...
I give it 5 stars, 4 just for accommodating rechargeable batteries, yes my NiMH batteries fit! So the eneloop NiMH brand would work. I can't imagine using regular batteries for these things, would wind up spending more in batteries than I paid for the trimmer. My old trimmer was too small for rechargeable's so this is a nice upgrade. This is also coming after I bought one with a built in rechargeable battery, that trimmer's battery lasted a whole 9 months. The trimmer is trash when those batteries go. Update: It even has room for two 14500 "AA" Lithium's, however it makes the motor race like a doped up racehorse, not recommended! I also tried one NiMH and 1 lithium, the speed is faster than just two NiMH's, but again, the faster it goes i'm sure the shorter the life span, who knows how long, and what negative effects there are on the motor, I"m sure Conair does not recommend mixing battery types. For now I'm satisfied with my two NiMH's! Excellent product and would buy it again.

Good deal, very reliable, very convenient.
Great deal for what it is made for. I never buy rechargeable devices as the cheap internal batteries are the first thing to go. This uses standard replaceable AA batteries which can be the normal or rechargeable type but at least I can always have a 'fresh' pair on hand when it goes dead.

Its good BUT....
I like. Its good. Cuts well BUT... chews through batteries badly. Just be prepared to factor in a big pack of high quality batteries in your budget.

Great battery powered trimmer.
Ease of use and portability are huge pluses in this little trimmer that does exactly what I need. Itโs perfect for my lifestyle- Iโm going to order another one for my travel bag as I use this one at work (no mess at home ๐). Easy to clean the trimmer head with the supplied brush too.
