Worked great ... Until it didn't
Worked great for my block heater for the first season and part of the 2nd season but now it just stops at the set time and pops the little detents out without turning on. Tested it in the house and outside at different set times and it worked but early in the morning in cold weather it will not work. I guess I will take it apart and see what's going on before buying a different one since I doubt there's much warranty on a $16 timer. Disappointed because it worked well and I figured this was more reliable than digital.*** Update, I took it apart and it had some moisture in it, 100% my fault because I didn't mount it correctly. I dried it out and will put it back in use but the moisture was freezing and making the switch stick. Moral to the story, mount it correctly and keep the door closed and it should be fine.

Instructions are correct--BUT........
Received the timer; instructions say to push down on the half-hour interval pegs representing the time you want the electricity to be turned on, & use a pen point if it is difficult (which would lead one to expect it might be.) Well, pegs were IMPOSSIBLE to push down, no matter what, so I sent it back to Amazon for a replacement.Second one: same instructions, same experience. However, I was determined to get the outdoor Christmas lights up that day, & having owned the indoor variety of this style timer before, I got creative & thought, Let's try pulling the pegs up instead. They pulled up easily. I'll cut to the chase here-- THE TIMER I RECEIVED ARRIVED WITH ALL PEGS ALREADY PUSHED DOWN. SO, IN ORDER TO OPERATE IT, YOU MUST FIRST PULL UP ALL THE PEGS, THEN AND ONLY THEN begin following the instructions and push down the ones for the hours you want it to turn on. (and they push down very easily.) Timer has worked like a charm since then. ( I'm assuming this might have been the problem with the first one I sent back too.)I bought this model for its promise of operating in 40 below weather; where we live, we are expecting first sub-zero stretch next week-- I'll update if the lights don't go on!

Good product with one minor nitpick
I purchased this unit to act as a timer for my old Malibu landscape lighting transformer. The timer on the transformer failed and I couldn't locate any replacement parts. Transformer (expensive part) still works fine so it would be a shame to spend $170 for a new unit. This unit fit the bill. The power cord is very thick and stiff so I assume it uses a thick wire gauge. The cord is fairly short at 18" so be aware of that. Also, mine did come with all the pins in the down position like someone else mentioned. My only issue was with the instructions. There is a template on the instructions that you can use to mark the location of two screws (included) needed to mount the unit. Not! The instructions say that the screws should be 1 9/16" apart. After I used the template and installed the screws, it didn't fit. If you measure the distance on the template, it's only 1 7/16" apart. Stupid!

"Not for Long Term Use"
This product says "ideal for outdoor water features". When you get it, it says "don't use for permanently; or for more than 90 days consecutively." Yup, have to find another timer for REAL usage. Bought me 90 days though.

A must have.
This is a must have for any diesel owner in cold climates. There's zero sense in heating your engine block all night long. That's way too expensive. I program this timer so it starts at about 4:30am-ish and I go start my truck between 5:30 and 6 and it turns over like it's a hot summer day.I figure in only a couple two or three days time it's saved me at least what it cost to buy the timer.

Long pigtail and high amperage
The first outdoor timer I bought had a very short cord. I could not install it vertically near the outlet. I returned it, spent a few bucks more, and got a name brand timer with 18” cord. Perfect!

Simple design.
Used for block heater. It seemed to trip the ground fault every use. I have yet to find out if the problem is also with the fuse panel.

never worked
Sent me a unit that had clearly already been opened and used and didn't work once I went to use it myself.
