Coil saved me a bundle & I was mowing in half an hour
I am very pleased with this coil. I checked a source that I have used before to find a coil for my 20 yr old Lawn Boy Gold Series 5 hp mower. They carried only an original Lawn Boy coil, at $93 plus shipping from TX. New mower time maybe?? Why not check Amazon...wow, here's a well-reviewed 3rd-party direct replacement at less that 1/3 the cost. I ordered it late on a Friday, the seller shipped the same day, and I received the new coil in the mailbox before Noon on Monday. On my model of Lawn Boy, I removed 4 screws on top, closed the gas flow, removed the gas line, pulled the top cover/gas tank and the coil was right there. Two screws, one wire, one spark plug wire...took old one out and put new one in within a couple of minutes...checked the gap between the new coil and flywheel with a credit card...tightened it down and put the top back on...connected the gas and turned the gas on (open). After 5 pumps of the primer bulb, I gave a pull and zoom! Runs great and boy am I happy that the lawn never had a chance to get out of control. I highly recommend this item and it is very easy to change with just a screwdriver. Looking at YouTube just now, I see there are several videos, some better than others, showing how to change a Lawn Boy coil. So, if you are concerned about how it's done and whether you can do it, look for 'Lawn Boy coil' on YouTube and see how easily you can fix your mower coil. If your mower dies when it gets hot and then starts again when it has cooled down, or runs intermittently, you probably need a new coil. This coil is a great product and you CAN do it yourself.

Fired right up....set the gap the easy way.
Worked great on my Lawnboy model 10520 with the F series engine.......magnetic gap setting for my mower was .010 in.......from what I found online, the gaps used are either .010" or . 014" for all Lawnboys but try to look up your model's gap yourself. I saw that business cards are used too but that seems a little wide to me.I used a Sharpie to mark where the magnets were on the flywheel, then took the .010" blade out of my feeler gauge and slipped it between the coil and the flywheel magnets.....let the magnets pull it all together and hold things, then just tighten the screws and pull out the feeler gauge blade and you're all set. Only other thing to watch out for is not knocking the spark plug wire boot back off when you're putting the tank back on !

Inexpensive Fix For My 20 Year Old Lawnboy.
This was an easy inexpensive fix for my 20 year old, Lawnboy model 10401, 19"push mower. This model mower is very easy to work on and basically if you know you have a good spark plug and your mower has no spark this is the part you need. Turn the gas off, remove the gas line from the gas tank, remove four sheet metal screws on the recoil and one on the gas tank and carefully lift both out of the way. This fully exposes the flywheel and ignition module. This module is all there is to the ignition system and is held in place by two small bolts. There are various YouTube videos going through this replacement. Depending on your mechanical ability it shouldn’t take you more than 20-45 minutes to do.I plan to purchase a spare as this mower just keeps going and going.

Acceptable Replacement For Lawn Boy
Worked right of the box. Doesn't run quite as well as the original, most likely a difference in internal timing/capacitance but certainly make sense for the price. Have used 4+ hours so far and have had no issues at all on my F Series engine.Have a replacement of the same kind on Duraforce engines and they perform as well. Not perfect but acceptable for the price.

Inexpensive solution for S19ZPM LawnBoy engines
It lost a star because of positively glacial shipping, otherwise it gets the job done simply and elegantly. In the case of the S19ZPM LawnBoy engine (on a model 680542 mower) all that was necessary was to remove the combination gas tank and shroud held on by a bunch of phillips head screws. The magneto is held on by two quite accessible bolts. It's quite simple. One thing you might want to do is take a picture or make a sketch of the old magneto before you remove it. This magneto did not look anything like my old one so it took a bit of puzzling to get the replacement fitted in.

Works
OEM Lawnboy coils are >$100, last a 5-6 years before failure due to known defects, and this one was under $20 and gets you going.I am not an advocate for the influx of cheap imported knockoff merchandise we are being fleeced by, but the OEM coil was made in EU and is six times the cost, and the supplier has apparently done nothing to correct the long standing and well documented heat failure issues.Only main difference I can see in performance is that the motor runs slightly rougher at full throttle than with the OEM coil, probably due to a timing issue, but it starts on the first pull and goes. And for the cheap price you can buy a spare and keep it on the shelf.Recommend.

Great Find
My 2-cycle Lawn Boy is nearly 20 years old. It's a very treasured piece of equipment to me. I bought it new.The first ignition coil failed at Year 3 or 4, but was still under warranty. No big deal. At around Year 12, the second coil failed, and the part was $100, plus labor. The needed repair was still well worth it.This spring I recognized immediately that I needed another new coil. But should I spend a couple hundred dollars on a 20-year-old mower?I was very pleased to find the new part on-line, and it only took me less than 15 minutes to install it myself, having never taken the mower apart before. What a great part and great value. I just hope they'll keep making these available for at least a couple more decades.

Worked great for model 4631
It worked great for a model 4631 lawn boy. Spark plug wire is tight against the housing. Hopefully the wire won’t kink over time.

Right part, real fast.
Lawn boy replacement ignition coil is a dead ringer for the original which retired unexpectedly mid mow. I love my classic two stroke lawn boy and I was greatly relieved to find a replacement part here on Amazon at a very reasonable price. The shipping was lightning fast and I am back up and running again! Very pleased.

Warning! Did not fit!
WARNING! This did not fit my Lawnboy model #10600 (coil #683080), despite details by the seller that this is the replacement coil for my mower. I had to extend and reshape one of the mounting holes to enable a fit. After about 2 hours work I was able to attach the unit and it did run the mower. Others had the same complaint as not being a suitable replacement for coil #683080. I agree, as stated by another reviewer that the 2 mounting holes are too far apart. After I got the unit to fit and run the mower, it failed to start after about an hours service. In fairness to the supplier perhaps my modifications were a factor? That said the unit started up again after cooling down for about 20 minutes, which in my opinion was indicative of the coil running hot, then having to cool off prior to re-starting. Not good. In conclusion it is not suitable for the above noted mower, despite claims in the ad's text that it is. As the ad is misleading (it says it fits although it does not), who knows what other units it may also not be suitable for. Also, the unit I received looked slightly different then what I received. Not sure if that was a factor though. The supplier was not diligent with the manner in which they advertised the sale of this product.Update: As it has been 6 years since my above review, thought I would provide an update. As of May 2021 the lawnmower continues to run, BUT the same problem remains with this replacement coil (which I also had to alter to fit). Once the mower is shut off, unless restarted immediately it will not re-start unless allowed to sit for 45 minutes to one hour. The coil must be designed to operate at a different heat range, hence the restart issue. So, in addition to the mounting holes being in the wrong spot, I believe the re-starting issue is related to this being the wrong coil (and not my installation). Yes, I checked the gap and still an issue. I also note that the vendor still oddly advertises that this coil is designed to replace the one in my mower, (see above earlier review). They did refund my purchase but for reasons best known to themselves they have left inaccurate fitment data in their ad.

The lawnmower is 1984 model and still runs like new thanks to this new coil
Although I have to turn my Lawnboy in the off position, this coil put new life into her. When ordering you may want to call first to make sure you are getting the one that matches your Lawnboy. This one works when grounded. My old one worked when not grounded. No big deal. The lawnmower is 1984 model and still runs like new thanks to this new coil.
