While cat sitting for my neighbor, I trained the cats NOT to jump up on her kitchen counters. I only used three scat mats plus a variety of kitchen items to block the other areas. They were very stubborn and it took a few days, but by the time she returned in a week, they had learned that ANYWHERE they jumped up was not pleasant. (Used low and sometimes medium settings. Also repositioned the mats to new areas every 2 days, therefore repositioning the kitchen items. They learned that there was a potential shock anywhere. My dogs won't go near the scat mats now. I sometimes replace them sometimes with a "dummy" (like a clear carpet runner from Lowes, etc.) They won't test it either. They have great respect for the scat mats. I did test all three settings on myself first. Lowest is like the shock we sometimes get from static electricity. Med slightly more intense. Even high does not really hurt. I only used it once on one mat for a few days because of "Mr. Stubborn" (MinPin Chihuahua). The company recommends lowest for cats and puppies, medium for small-medium adult dogs and high for big dogs. Easy to clean, mostly invisible, battery and battery pack easy to place and remove. Love that they have a variety of sizes. Of the 4 I own, I have three sizes for various locations and purposes. Three operate on battery, one also has an electric cord to plug into outlet. All work great. Be sure to ROLL them up for storage. NEVER had a problem. If you do, I suggest contacting the company. I'm sure they will make it right. I only use 2 of my 4 now occasionally to remind them out of 2 rooms. Sometimes replace with dummy. DO NOT GET another brand or order a battery pack that doesn't say Pet Safe. These are worth every penny! If you can only afford one, keep switching to any other areas where you need it and place a "dummy" in the area where you have already trained. If you also employ TRAINING METHODS, you will be more assured of success and sooner. I would lead my dogs on a leash to the forbidden area and say NO NO in a firm voice. Followed that up by keeping a close eye on them in the beginning, so if they approached forbidden area, I would repeat the NO NO. Started with one scat mat and eventually bought other sizes for other areas, repeating the training. Now I don't even use them all the time. Instead I loan them out to friends who then order their own.

What can I say? Does exactly what it is supposed to do. I have two large dogs... an American bull terrier female and a terrier/shepherd mix male. The shepherd mix cannot stay off a couch for love nor money. He jumps up to look out the windows and has completely destroyed the blinds, not once but twice. Frustrated I went on Amazon looking for a solution and found this. I didn't want to worry about replacing batteries so I purchased the A/C adapter. It works beautifully. As long as this mat is on the sofa, the dogs do NOT jump up. It's essentially invisible from across the room (on a canvas-colored fabric). I made sure to check the shock level. They may have me at my wits end but I don't want to hurt the dogs. The shock is surprising but no worse than someone snapping a small rubber-band on your hand. It's enough for you to want to yank your finger back but not so bad that it actually stings. My only two issues are 1) it's almost a bit too long for the sofa and 2) it doesn't leave room for the throw pillows which, I presume, cannot sit on the mat while it is on. However, I have realized that if it were any shorter, allowing the placement of throw pillows on either side, the dogs would quickly figure out that they could jump up where the pillows were and onto the back of the couch where they want to be in the first place. So.... trade-offs. Also, if you have teenage sons and you forget to tell them that the mat is there, you may have an entertaining day. I did.As far as training, I cannot be sure that it does that. I'm frustrated enough that I leave this on the sofa whenever I am not using it. But I have a strong suspicion that my dogs would jump up the minute they realized that the mat was no longer there.

I'm an avid animal lover and rescuer, so having 10 animals in the home at any given time is normal here. Needless to say, pet hair is a huge annoyance. The floors we've come to live with, they're dirty within a day of cleaning (oh Roomba, can't wait to afford you). My lovely custom sectional though, that's my baby. I HATE, ABHOR, DESPISE, pet hair on places I rest my body. I grew up in a home full of animals and pet hair on my clothes was standard. I've tried everything to protect my couch...training, sheets, blankets, water proof covers, noise emitting mats...you name it, I've tried it. Nothing worked or was too much work to keep up with. I had to dedicated an entire laundry day to just cleaning the waterproof covers because they took up my whole washer and then had to be air dried...nightmare!In an ongoing quest to find the perfect solution to keeping my pets off my couch, I stumbled across this bad boy...enter the Scat Mat. OMG! Yes! Immediate success. Dogs rocketed off the couch like someone had lit fireworks underneath them. My kids gave it a go too as did my husband and I. It's a shocker for sure, but no more than a good static shock like you used to get on the tunnel slide at McDonald's. The dogs hate and I LOVE it!It's a great floor barrier too! Our youngest pup has quite the affinity for cat truffles (AKA cat turds) and hits up the litter box like a Vegas buffet. I mean, I'm not gonna lie, it was nice to not have to scoop as often, but I love to kiss my pets, especially this sweet, crap-loving canine. Nothing worst than going in for a smooch and being met with the putrid stank of my cat's hole. For weeks we endured the battle of keeping this pooch out of the box, until finally it dawned on me to try the Scat Mat. Yep, so darn effective that we can't get this boy to walk past the litter box without assistance because he's so darn scared of the thing. Of course the one section of my couch that no longer has a mat is now being dog piled until we can add another one to the budget. I guess I know what Santa is bringing me this year.If you're looking for an effective solution, this is it!PS: Seller, if you read this, one of the wires has come out of the plastic. Inclusive los protegí con colchas pero se subían y hasta encontraba que los orinaban. Lo cual incluida un gasto de mandarlos a lavar continuamente con el desgaste de la tela que protege el mueble. Así estuve por varios años hasta que me enteré del tapete petsafe. Al principio no me parecía la idea de que se llegaran a lastimar mis perros pero me decidí a probar y me sorprendí que una vez que los puse solo una vez se subieron mis perros y recibieron los muy pequeños calambres (el tapete tiene tres niveles de intensidad) y a partir de ahí jamás se han subido. Es más en la actualidad ya ni los enciendo (ahorrando en baterías) pues ellos con solo verlos ni el intento hacen por subirse. Cumplió y cumple al 100 % mis expectativas. Adiós a los muebles sucios y con pelos de mascotas. Es una excelente inversión.

So we have a cat who thinks our couch is a litter box, No medical issues just liked the couch to pee on, we have literally replaced our couch many times (so many dump trips to get rid of couches they knew my husband by name) and spent way too much money replacing, cleaning, and such. I was at my wits end and even considering not having a couch at all anymore. When my daughter found this product, I was skeptical but she ordered it anyways.It is the most amazing product out there and actually works I am not kidding. we just bought a new couch put this on it and the minute our cat jumped on it, she bolted right off. No more peeing on the couch, she avoids the couch like the plague now. It takes a 9-volt battery. It has 3 setting we use the max setting. it doesn't hurt when shocked, it does however give a sense of fright when it shocks you. it is not a electrical shock though more like a static shock. All humans tried it before we let the cat on it.I love this and now we have had a couch for a few months without her peeing on it. It may seem a bit over priced but trust me when you start replacing a couch every month you won't mind paying a bit more. I totally, highly and completely recommend this product to anyone who wants pets off, or keep their pets off, the couch and even off their counter tops.Well worth the moneyOh sure, we could have gotten rid of the cat but she is old and we love her, she is now our good kitty again and pees only in the litter box.I was skeptical too but please trust me this products works and so glad my daughter ignored my skepticism and ordered one. Bought this for the sofa, great to keep the puppy off. She learns very quickly not to touch it.Tried with my hands on low setting and that's all I needed.

Con una sóla vez que mis mascotas se subieron bastó para que dejaran de hacerlo. Es horrible tener que llegar a esto, pero mis perritas no entendían y se subían al sillón ensuciándolo y vomitándolo siempre. Edito: Ya lleva varias semanas el tapete y mis perritas ni se acercan. En serio vale la pena!!

I Have two large breed dogs roughly 150 pounds each and growing. As they were growing the couch took a beating. This was okay for the older couch but we are upgrading the living room and bought new couches so them being on the couches needed to stop. For the couch and for room for people to sit. So I bought this product and after a few zaps on the high setting the first day they stopped going on the couch. Not even a week into having this product I was able to not even turn it on and they would stay off the couch. Now into week 2 when we are home we don’t even need to use it. We still lay it on the couch when we go out because dogs will be dogs when no one is watching. But i’m Sure we won’t need to even do that soon enough. we are very pleased with this product! We use the higher setting due to our large breed dog. Definitely start lower setting and feel what’s right for your dog. As this does give a good zap on high.product did everything it said it would. Very pleased!
