Old Biotene formula, excellent for sensitive mouth
Thank you to the other reviewers who provided information on this product being the old, original Biotene formula, I may have never stumbled onto this excellent product without your help. I have a very sensitive mouth, anything minty, too sweet or salty, spicy, hot, acidy, or even sharp like hard candy or chips, can cause burning and sores in my mouth. I used the original Biotene formula for years and did well with it, until the formula was changed, and I could no longer tolerate it. After much time and research, along with many wasted tubes of supposed "gentle" toothpastes, I found that Squiggle tooth builder in the green tube worked for me. Until recently. One reviewer pointed out a change in Squiggle's formula based on the ingredients list, which I did not notice, but my mouth certainly did. More searching and buying of toothpaste that didn't work. Stumbled onto the Salivea for dry mouth, which I also occasionally suffer from, and read the reviews about Laclede producing the old Biotene formula again after the short sighted corporate hacks at the big corporation changed the formula and ruined it. Thank you Laclede for (hopefully) caring about actual people, customers who NEED this product, and will be loyal to it until they die if you continue to produce it! We may not be a large cohort, but there are enough of us who know what works and are so exhausted from searching for new products every time an excellent product is changed, cheapened, or "new and improved," which means just the opposite. This toothpaste is wonderful again, my mouth can tolerate it multiple times a day, it is very soothing, doesn't burn, actually improves my mouth when I flare up from allergies or sensitivities or get sores. The taste is mild but clean, the texture is smooth and comfortable, not watery or gritty as some reviews stated. It is an excellent toothpaste for those of us with mouth sensitivity, canker sores, and dryness issues. I encourage you to at least try a tube to see if it will work for you if you have the same issues I do. I am (selfishly) hoping the customer base will be built up again so that they never stop making this toothpaste with this particular formula again! The price is good considering a lot of other "sensitive" toothpastes I tried were priced much higher. And honestly, I would pay a bit more to have my mouth feel ok and not hurt everyday. If you like super minty, burn your mouth clean toothpaste, (and I understand you, my husband is one of you) then this is not for you. But just because it is not for you, please recognize that it is a godsend for some of us. I am thrilled most people don't suffer the horrible issues I have with my sensitive mouth, and admire your ability to tolerate all that hot peppermint, cinnamon, or whatever minty clean toothpaste you love. But this product is extremely valuable and soothing for the right people, and we desperately need it, because we are ignored by big corporations that can sell to the larger cohort of average consumers without problematic issues. Thanks again to the reviewers who provided good information, and THANK YOU, Laclede, for producing this extremely helpful product to those of us who suffer from mouth issues like sensitivity, allergy, sores, and dryness. You have really helped this particular consumer, and I am very grateful!

When Laclede sold off biotene formula& label to a conglomerate, I was heartbroken…BUT Now, Yahooo!
I found original biotene in drugstore. Tried it because condition of gums, stained teeth on the label looked like what I was newly experiencing, and couldn’t find any help for. The toothpaste, mouthwash, and oral moisturizing gel were the trifecta of dry mouth care. My gums returned to health, the dark spots went away, my mouth felt healthy again! Then the label changed to GSK, and the monster was loose in the building!I stocked up knowing that this would change the product dramatically within a year. Sure enough the enzymes were removed, and it became run of the mill xylitol mouthwash, paste etc, but kept remained at the premium price point. It’s classic corporate money- mongering. Buy a great product, gut it, then keep selling it under the formerly reputable label.I AM SOOO GLAD that Laclede is back in the ring! I lost a lot of teeth to dry mouth in the meantime, but I am so glad to have Salivea. It is truly a treatment toothpaste, but it tastes fine. Of note, no stand-alone toothpaste does what some reviewers seem to hope for. I also use the mouthwash and (and because I can’t find Laclede reproduction of Oralbalance gel) Oral7 brand gel moisturizer- nothing but this triple hit compares in healing my oral tissues. It does not contain the SLSulfate foaming agent of other toothpastes because it irritates oral tissues, promoting damage. It does not contain strong artificial flavorings to irritate the mouth either. It does contain, and resupply, protective enzymes naturally found in a healthy mouth, but destroyed by dry mouth. Fully understanding how treatment options help is directly related to fully understanding condition of dry mouth. If you must have the gutless, candy red sports car, go to the other brands. But if you want the Rolls-Royce engine in your treatment oral care, stick with Laclede. One caveat: always check the label, even on your most trusted brands. Xylitol will never be able to mimic oral enzymes, which are key here. Chronic Dry Mouth care is not entirely about moisture alone. Great Product! Hopefully, Laclede will protect label integrity this time around.

Great for dry mouth
I usually use a prescription toothpaste but my insurance stopped paying for it and I just wanted something ASAP so I tried this. It's not quite as good as the RX stuff but it's pretty good! I had run out of the RX brand so compared to not using a dry mouth toothpaste this works great! I wasn't able to make it through the night without needing significant amount of water and my mouth was literally stuck together from lack of moisture. I only wake up once now for a sip of water. I wake up a little dry but nothing like without using it! I really like this toothpaste. It does a great job and is comparable to the RX toothpaste. The taste is good. If I swish with dry mouthwash after brushing with this it's just a good as the RX.
