These should be required by law on all new rental with baseboard heating!
I bought this for our rental and just love it. Works perfectly and was easy to install. I am by no means an electrician or know very much about wiring. I just turned off our circuit breaker, yanked the old analog dial and slapped this one on. So much better, and the "step" heating really works! Glad I bought this and plan to keep it with us for our next move, in case we have baseboard heating again. (ugh)Also, the lit LED works flawlessly to see at night!

Good non-programmable thermostat for baseboard heaters
I installed this digital thermostat to replace a 2 pole analog dial thermostat for a baseboard heater in my daughter's room. My old analog thermostat was inconsistent in tempature thus me opting for a digital alternative.Pros:Backlight display!Silent operation. No clicking sound when heat is requested. No batteries required.2-wire (single pole) installation or 4-wire (two pole) installation. Thermostat only has 2 wires but comes with instructions with wiring diagrams for both options.3 year warrantyPercentage of heating time display*1 flame - 1-24%2 flames - 25-49%3 flames - 50-74%4 flames - 75- 99%5 flames - 100%*The thermostat displays the percentage of heating time required to maintain the desired tempature. For example, 2 flames is displayed when heating is activated 40 percent of the time.Cons:No off switch (My old analog was wired with 4-wires (two pole) with off switch)Up/down buttons are flush with frontOverall I am happy with the purchase.

Unit was detective, had to return
Unfortunately this thermostat did not work. It was in constant on mode and wouldn't turn off the base board, which got quite hot. I ordered another at full price, and that one was fine. I have these all over the house, and they work well. Hoped to get a bargain and put one in a bathroom which still had a mechanical thermostat..

Back to basics for us!
Before we retired we bought a fancy, multi-programmable thermostatfor our base board heating. It was fine tuned by day of the week andby the various times of the day. When we both retired our daily and weekly schedules changed dramaticallyleaving us cold when we were up, hot when we were asleep, etc.To simplify our lives, we just replaced the programmable one with a moresimple thermostat. This one is great: set it to 65 when we go to bed,and the first one up can turn it higher if needed. When we are gone,it's set to about 68 for the sake of everything in the house like theplants and pets.Life is more simple and the temperature actually reflects our needs atthis time of our lives. I'd recommend this to others who do not wantor need a programmable thermostat.
