Invicta Men's 5053 Pro Diver Collection Automatic Watch

I only just received my watch so this is a first impressions review. I'll update in intervals to give a better idea of performance, wearability, etc. The watch itself is built sturdy, and comes in a very nice yellow suede lined box. Very nice looking. I have shied away from Invictas in the past because they seem so large on the wrist. I'm ok with large watches, I own 26 watches now, but don't like oversized ones. The band is solid stainless and was easy to remove links to adjust. I only mention that because I have run across newer bands that use a different system of pins holding the links together. Did I mention how nice the watch looks? A lot of watch collectors have apparently had issues with Invicta's customer service. I can't speak to that as I said I received it only today and it appefars to be in good working order and I am so far very satisfied. I'll give it a month or so of wearing before I can comment on performance. I set it to the second by the NIST official time sire so it will be interesting to see any time variances in the coming months. So far I will say that I highly recommend it and look forward to adding it to my collection. Maybe this will open up the Invictas for me. I have my eye on the 8928OB Pro Diver. Update: A previous reviewer gave this watch two stars because of a perceived defect. The crown was 'Frozen' and he could not turn it to set the watch. As a result he sent it back. When I got my watch the crown was frozen too. I too was at first dismayed but as it turns out that's how it comes. The crown in a stowed position and just needs to be carefully popped out. I've only had my watch for a few days but I think I can now speak to its accuracy. It has an automatic movement so relies on a system of wound springs and gears to provide power to drive the movement. When I first got it I pretty much left it up to the natural motion of my hand to wind it. Result, after the first night's sleep it had lost nearly a full minute. Just on a whim I tried deliberately winding or shaking my wrist for a few seconds thruout the day. The next morning when I checked the NIST site the watch was now a whole minute ahead. So how much you move or wind your watch has a definite effect on its accuracy. An automatic like this one will never compare to a Quartz movement for accuracy, but if you want a timepiece that with a bit of care and maintenance every couple of years will be passed on to the next generation and possibly beyond, this is the watch for you. For a watch that's like a piece of art with its hundreds of tiny mechanical pieces moving together you can either see a little inaccuracy as a flaw or a mark of its charm. Buy the way, it was pretty much an obvious thing but I only saw it after reading about the movement types. On a wind up or automatic watch the second hand moves in a sweeping or smooth motion ticking multiple times a second around the dial. A Quartz watch's second hand only ticks once a second hence the pronounced 'stuttering' movement.

I mean honestly, an automatic watch for $90? Sounds like a good deal to me. This watch also has a Seiko automatic movement inside, one of those most reliable and well known in the watch business. The watch face can vary from dark blue to purple depending on the lighting. It is a stunning watch as well. The only downside is the cheap bracelet. It has hollow end links which is a little disappointing considering I have a cheaper watch with solid end links and clasp. However, I will be changing out the bracelet soon for something better. But that shouldn't bring down the watch as a whole. The dial is great, the timekeeping so far has been about +/- 5 sec a day which has been great. The power reserve is also nice. A quick wind at night with the screw down crown easily gets this watch ticking to the next morning. The cyclops for the date is popping. the date is easily readable from looking straight down on it, the dates are also crisp and easy to read. The lume is decent too. The rotating bezel I should also mention is stiff. I cannot rotate it with my fingers. It isn't grippy at all. very hard to turn. I have to stick my palm over the entire watch face to try and turn it. The only nice thing about that is that it won't accidentally rotate on you. Although I never use the diving feature anyways so I personally don't care for this. I could probably loosen it with a little time if needed. Overall this is a great timepiece and I highly recommend getting this if you're looking for a reliable and decent looking automatic watch.

This is my fist purchase of an Invicta watch. I understand that most Invicta watches are made in China or Malaysia with some of the top tier watches made in Switzerland but that their movements are Japanese or Swiss. I generally do not go for the "huge" or "gaudy" look and do not need a chronograph, even though I admit some are really beautiful. However, when I saw the Invicta 5053 pro diver mechanical with the red and blue bezel and blue face with stainless steel band, I really found it to be a great looking watch. It really resembles the Rolex GMT Submariner "Pepsi" watch at a small fraction of the cost. What really sold me was that it has the Seiko 24 jewel NH35A movement which is very well rated. I received the watch within the expected time and was packaged well in "new" condition with all the associated protective covering, instruction manual, etc. The watch is beautiful and after a band adjustment fits and looks great. It is a heavy and solid feeling watch and appears well made and more expensive than it is. The watch keeps great time but is slightly less accurate than a quartz watch. Very pleased with my purchase and would recommend.

I have owned this watch for about 6 months now and have worn it on and off for about half of that time. Firstly, I really like the design and the branding on the watch. I am aware most people find Invicta to be a novelty band and might not like how explicit its branding is. Personally, I think it adds charm to the watch. It has a Malaysian made Seiko movement that has been pretty bulletproof so far. I have worn it on my Harley-Davidson, in heated spas, and pools and haven't had any issues with it running and keeping relatively good time. For me, my movement looses around 6-10 seconds a day, which I find acceptable for the price. I am certain that the movement if properly regulated could perform much better. This movement also has a date wheel and a hack which I really like as well. I liked the metal bracelet it came on. It feels to be good quality and its clasp feels pretty solid. I have recently changed the watch onto a NATO strap, only because I find it more comfortable for long durations of wearing. There is two parts of this watch that I really have a problem with. First and less important is its bezel. I love its looks, however, it is barely functional for me. It does rotates only counter clockwise, which is a diving feature I really like. What I don't like is the excessive amount of force required to turn the bezel. I struggle to get the bezel to turn both dry and in water. Without gloves, it is nearly impossible for me to get enough grip to turn it at all. The other not so great thing about the bezel is its marks don't perfectly line up with the minute marks on the watch face. It doesn't bother me much, but if you are more particular, I can see how this could be annoying. The other thing I don't like about this watch is its lume. It's lume does not retain its glow for very long at all. Again, for the price, I wasn't expecting much. However, after exposing the watch to direct sunlight for around 8 hours straight on a long motorcycle trip, I looked down to see that the lume on the hands and bezel had "burnt out." They are now a significantly darker color than the rest of the watch face's lume. They also barely glow in the dark now. This has made the watch almost impossible to read in the dark now. Overall, for the price and the quality. I think this is a great automatic watch and I could see myself buying another again in the future. However, I feel that you are willing to buy a quartz watch instead, you might get a better deal buying something like a Casio Duro instead.

I have been wearing it for 3 weeks now and I can honestly see this as becoming my primary watch on rotation. Let’s summarise briefly what I have experienced thus far; The bad: 1. The bracelet is most definitely not Rolex quality and a bit on the light side. It does feel secure though and it is very comfortable, but it does not exude quality. 2. The bezel had a slight misalignment and it doesn’t rest completely in line with 12:00. Very minor. 3. The lume is not up there. There are also two grades of lume used on the watch. The hands and 12:00 pip on the bezel light up quite quickly and brightly, but the hour markers much less so. The good: 1. The watch looks like a much more expensive watch than it is. Much, much more. Delivered to my door from the US cost me slightly less than half of what it cost in South Africa and even at that price, it would be a good buy. 2. The dial is the most sumptuous blue, especially outside in the sun. It is absolutely gorgeous. Photos really do not do it justice. 3. The timekeeping is excellent. I am using the WatchCheck app to time the watch. At present I am still testing out resting positions for the watch at night. This throws the general accuracy off a bit and even with that I am currently better than +2 seconds per day. This is excellent accuracy. 4. The 40mm size is perfect for my arm. It is such a civilised size in this era of wrist-worm hockey pucks. Do I have any regrets in buying this? Not even close.

I purchased this watch before I realized the difference between the Miyota 21 jewel movement pictured with this watch and the NH35A 24 jewel movement. I emailed Amazon that I wanted to cancel the order and make a purchase of an Invicta 1002 Pro Diver watch. Amazon replied after checking that the watch was shipping and they could not stop the order. Typical in excellent fashion, Amazon proceeded to tell me how to reject or return the watch. I received it yesterday and looked at the watch. I like the bezel, aka 25 year ago Rolex GMT Master. I wanted one but had bought a Rolex Submariner instead. I looked at the back of the watch which is see-through and SURPRISE. The movement was a NH35A 24 jewel movement. No way am I giving this watch back! I am keeping both the 1002 and this watch. It is sure nice to own a watch that you know when you buy it that you are not going to have to open the watch and buy and replace an expendable battery. I like the NH35A movement which includes hacking and stem winding with 24 jewels, the screw down stem, the blue/red bezel with blue face which is attractive and easy to read, the stainless steel case and band that will never ever lose it's plating, positive closing clasp and close fitting links in the band. This watch is slightly smaller than the Invicta 1002 but both are excellent in their look and feel. The magnification lens is perfectly centered over the date unlike the 1002. My review of the 1002 says that both locations work. I have no knowledge of how this watch works in the dark. If I want to know the time in the dark, I use my smart phone. I now have a substitute for the Rolex GMT Master that I never purchased.

I have wanted a dive watch with the "Pepsi" bezel for a while and finally bought one. People love to hate Invicta, I do not know why, at first look this watch is well worth the price I paid for it. I love the packaging that the watch came in the bright yellow box may be a bit gaudy, but I love it. It would make a very good gift box. The watch was a piece of cake to resize, three links out and it fit my 7" wrist perfect. The display back shows the NH35A (a Seiko movement) with a Yellow Invicta Group logo on it. The watch has hand winding and hacking and is supposed to have up to a 41 hour power reserve. the crown has the invicta logo on it, just overall a good looking watch. Now one down side, the band is good looking but the clasp is a bit on the cheap side, more than that it is very hard for me to undo, this may not be a problem but I have to keep my fingernails very short and can not catch the secondary clasp well enough to release it. All together I bought 3 invictas today, 2 automatics and 1 quartz, 1 is for a gift but the two that I am keeping for myself I am very happy with.

Ho acquistato questo orologio per divertimento.... Mi è piaciuto subito il colore particolare con la ghiera blu e rossa (pepsi lo chiamano gli esperti) e ho deciso di prenderlo perché aveva un prezzo di acquisto decisamente buono. Se non erro l'ho pagato €69 circa durante le offerte di primavera e per questo prezzo ti arriva un orologio con movimento meccanico, bracciale d'acciaio di tipo Oyster con le maglie centrali lucide e quelle laterali opache anche se non così robusto come gli altri modelli però migliore della media. Nel mio orologio il bilanciere è color acciaio non color oro come nei modelli delle foto su Amazon però era specificato che dipendeva dai Lotti di fornitura ed a quanto ho capito d'ora in poi arriveranno tutti così... peccato ma sinceramente è una parte vedi soltanto te! L'orologio in teoria resiste anche fino a 200 metri sott'acqua ma al momento non ho intenzione di testarlo.... Ho dovuto un po' impazzire per regolare le maglie del bracciale e ho risolto grazie a un altro attrezzo che ho sempre acquistato su Amazon ( inutile tentare con chiodi o altre cose si rischia solo di graffiare il bracciale). Una volta messo al polso devo dire fa una grande figura e pesa forse qualche grammo in più di altri orologi in acciaio (pesa 152 grammi), che ho però non mi crea problemi affatto e la misura della cassa di 40 mm è da considerarsi la misura limite per un polso normale. In particolare se avete un polso molto sottile forse non è da prendere ma con un polso normale lo riempie quasi tutto ma si porta molto bene. Ci sono anche delle cose negative in particolare la luminescenza al buio è carente, si vede ma ci sono altri orologi che si vedono un po' meglio però il rapporto alla spesa mi sembra molto molto soddisfacente! La cassa è spessa, se non erro 14 mm quindi parecchio però questo tipo di orologio è così Quindi se lo vuole un "Diver" il presupposto è che la cassa sarà un po' spessa e quindi ok! In questo momento non so dire quanti secondi perda al giorno... immagino sia come gli altri che ho simili di altre marche e perdono circa un minuto ogni quattro giorni però poi magari modifico la recensione in futuro per aggiornamento dopo che l'ho usato un po' di più. Per il prezzo sono estremamente soddisfatto!

Having been undecided to get the Pepsi-styled bezel on an Invicta Diver, I finally settled down on a whim to purchase this one. I was mainly concerned and worried by the lack of good pictures showing this watch in detail. However, seeing that there wasn't really any good alternatives other than the Cola coloured diver ALSO offered by Invicta and Seiko's SKX series, I settled down and tried my luck. I couldn't have been more pleased with it than upon opening the iconic Invicta yellow box. For now, I am unsure of how well it will keep the time and how much it may vary per week or per month. As for the lume, mileage may vary, I guess. But I can only repeat myself so many times that the pictures DO NOT DO IT JUSTICE. I have taken into account that Invicta's image has never really been too great when it came to their bigger, boisterous watches, which is understandably corny for some. However, I don't think it can be highlighted enough how underrated their Seiko-powered NH35 movement may be, which is better than some unknown shoddy movement they may have gotten from somewhere else. I strongly believe this may be, next to Seiko's (again) own SNK809 AND Casio's Merlin MDV106, the best budget automatic watch series to start off from, while having something reminiscent of the bigger names that make divers, such as the obvious Omega's, Tudor's, Rolex's and etc. Heck, this might the better of two worlds when it comes to "gateway watches" : Affordable like the two aforementioned pieces while combining their two highlighted functions, one being automatic and the other having a good looking bezel. In short, would make a good beater for some collectionneurs and a good starter with an amazing colour scheme for those who desire it. For a plain black bezel, refer yourself back to the 8926OB or the 8926. For a gold and blue scheme, there's the 8929OB and a cola version, the 9403. Please note in the pictures that the NATO strap did not come with the watch, as I simply slapped what I had handy and matching on it.

I have had alot of people comment on the watch saying it looks expensive. Little do they know you get a great watch for a reasonable price.
