Brownfolds Paper Origami Lamp Shade; Vanilla Bliss Dual Pack White

Pros:Looks cool, very different looking, its been a conversation piece.Not using commodity plastic or other junk to add to landfills.Easy to install in the right spot and flexible form can be modified somewhat to suit a spot (see caveats below)Doesn't shatter or require taking apart to change the bulbs, simply spread the bottom gently and change the bulbs.Seems moderately sturdy and took installation fine with no deformation.Cons:!! While possible to modify its shape a bit (origami yo) you NEED a thin cord or stem entering the top. It comes with a small metal ring about the size of a key ring that loops through the top and the shade hangs from it. You could find a bigger loop, but the neck material has a fold that extends from the innermost point you see at the top/tip straight down for maybe a quarter of the shade resulting in almost no clearance width-wise for any shroud or bulb housing etc... Therefore it sits up higher than we expected and required some fiddling to sit right due to a flared neck above our bulb fixture. It really is designed more for the corded use as seen in the pics, but I'll post pics of ours... your mileage may vary.Its sturdy but its still paper so it can get bent, torn, stained etc... since its listed as such not really a con but won't survive what metal or plastic will.You probably want to stick with low wattage LED bulbs., especially if using a single small shade. I mentioned its paper right? It doesn't touch our bulb but comes close so heat + paper could be bad.Is it worth it? Well glass shades aren't cheap if you get anything other than plain white bells for the most part, but at about $20 for folder paper and a key ring I can't call it a bargain, but we're very happy with it so far.

I love my lamp shade and it looks amazing in my bedroom, however I did have to pick up a larger ring from the craft store in order to make it fit on my fixture, and because it isn't designed for a larger ring it does hang a bit oval instead of round, but that's ok

We were perhaps too excited to finally have found a lamp that is different, yet has style. The lamp is really small, even if you chose the large version which is basically two small ones that stick together. The paper had a really strong smell initially so it spent the first week airing outdoors. Because of how small it is the cable looks really big. You will have to get creative in how you make this one add to your space instead of distracting.

Very easy to assemble. I understand that the paper has to be thick enough to provide the strength but you really need a very bright light bulb to shine through the paper.

I needed something to fit over an existing pendant. This is perfect & an affordable option. I’m happy w it.

The origami lamps are very good. I bought a pair, to make a bigger shade and a smaller one of the same type.Origami has many options and Brownfold should look at larger lamps with varying shapes.Well done Brownfold !
