I've slowly been adding decorations to our dining/tabletop gaming room to set the scene for our current gaming campaign, Seafall. Started with a kitchy fisherman's net, and now includes this ship wheel. Who knows what's next.Pros: Well made decoration, doesn't look or feel cheap. Upon close inspection, you can see some clues of assembly-line-type construction (pieces of wood assembled to form the whole) but the lacquer finish hides it well from a reasonable viewing distance. This particular size is great for a replica that doesn't overpower the overall setting but still adds a defining piece to the scene.Cons: No mounting hardware, so that's all up to you. For whatever reason, i had a short gold chain from a hanging lamp just stashed in a toolbox, so i wrapped it around two of the center spokes, then on a large S hook, and finally on a thick hercules hook. The wheel itself hides the S hook and hercules hook pretty well (see photo).Side note: On the brass circle in the center, is a small plate with the brand name on it. It's held on by 2 tiny posts. One post wasn't attached to wheel and the plate was dangling. Found the post (wheel shipped in a clear plastic bag encased in bubble wrap) and pressed it back on, easy enough, but the plate looks kind of cheesy. Luckily, the other side of the wheel is identical sans plate.Can't believe i wrote such a long review for a decoration. I can't believe anyone would read all this.

It is a very nice pice, it is small but that is what I expected. Feels like solid wood, color is accurate to photo (brown) would recommend

This is probably the worst piece of commercial woodworking I have ever seen.I ordered two wheels, a four-inch one and a nine-inch one. The four-inch wheel was outstanding in every way but this nine-inch wheel is hardly worth burning in the fireplace.First, the wood finish is extremely rough with chips and gouges everywhere. The outer rim is not on straight when viewed from the side and is not round when viewed from the front (or back), The rim looks like someone tried to sand a couple of sections with a belt sander and wore the wood down too much so those two sections are out of round with the rest of the rim and out of round with each other.The lathe work on the spokes is uneven and there was no attempt to sand the spokes after they were turned on the lathe. Finally both finishes (stain and varnish) are pitiful. The wood has so much filler where the stain would not take that the wheel has a mottled appearance. The varnish is also attrocious. Another reviewer said it looked like the wheel was packed for shipment with the varnish still wet. In my case, that's an understatement.The varnish appears to have been applied with a spray gun or air brush. In some places there is no varhish at all and in other places it's caked up so thick that I wondered whether it had dried. The best part about it is that the brass center appears to be solid and of good quality though in some places varnish was painted or sprayed on it and in other places it's dull and unattractive.This is a BAD buy even at the very low price of $6.49 that I paid. I note that my seller has now increased his price to over $12. I certainly hope the quality is better because, if it's not, it's a true ripoff. Even at $6.49 I consider it a ripoff because had I known what I was getting, I would not have ordered it. Compared to others, my wheel was only terribly ugly...at least I didn't have the bugs and termites that others have complained about. What I can't understand is why the four-inch wheel is really high quality and this one is sooooo poor...To his credit, the seller, Manhattan Lane, issued an immediate credit when I informed him of the problems I had with the product. I appreciate the seller's response, but based on my experience, I will buy these types of products locally because the Indian suppliers are shipping junk along with good products and a local seller doesn't have time to inspect every product he ships so he doesn't know he's shipping junk until the customer complains.

This wheel arrived on the first day of the projected delivery window so that's good service. The wheel itself is really cute & will look great in my son's nautical-themed hot tub room. It arrived in good shape...nothing broken or missing. It seemed a bit small when I took it out of the box but I measured it & it is indeed 24" as advertised. The big thing with this item was the price. I shopped around for weeks on different sites & spent 2 days tracking similar wheels being bid on through eBay (don't waste your time trying to outthink other bidders as you'll invariably lose the auction & waste valuable time in the process). This wheel was the best price I could find ANYWHERE (some, nearly identical, went for over $100 on eBay). One doesn't need quality in a decorative item. You just want it to look good for your own purposes & this does it for me.

Ordered this 48” Ships Wheel with some reservation based on some negative reviews. No regrets thankfully! Tip on hanging: I installed two screws on the backside, upper portion of wheel with heavy wire stretched/attached from screw to screw (was about 9” apart). Installed two Molly’s in the wall with two screws protruding out and then hung the wire over the molly screws ~ Like hanging a picture

It took a few more days to receive but that was expected coming from the USA to Canada. It was well package in a cardboard box with plastic wrap. The craftsmanship was very good. I am pleased with the wheel, it will make a great addition to our cottage.
