Dory Fantasmagory: Outside the Box

In our opinion, Dory Fantasmagory books are great read alouds for first graders. It is a great book series because they are funny. Dory uses a banana to call an imaginary friend named Mr. Nuggy. Another reason is Dory has a great imagination. She has imaginary friends and enemies. Finally, Dory Fantasmagory books have great illustrations. There are pictures on almost every page. Dory Fantasmagory books are wonderful for first graders. They will love it!

I've read and re-read these books to my daughter and we've both enjoyed every minute of it. There are illustrations on every page which keeps her engaged while transitioning to chapter books. They're also hilarious. Can't recommend these enough.

We were recommended this series and I was skeptical at first, but it held the attention of my 5 & 7 year old through each book. They both asked for it each night, followed the story and really enjoyed it so what more can I ask for. It's a cute series.

I am a secondary librarian, but I had never heard of these books. When my grandkids, eight and six, came home asking for these, I researched them a little bit. I purchased them, and as soon as they arrived at my house, my grandkids grab those books and they read all evening. it is their go to set of books that they select when they come to our house when it’s reading time. Apparently, their teachers read these to them when they’re in school as well, so I will buy more in the series. If you’re looking for a chapter book for early readers, This seems to be a keeper.

My 5 years old granddaughter couldn't stop laughing as I was reading her this book! She did not want to stop reading until we finished the first book. The next day, we read 2 more.I highly recommend this book for kids full of imagination!

I bought this set of books for my granddaughter, a nascent reader. They are quirky and fun for any child with an imagination, and she is loving them! The vocabulary is challenging without being too daunting for an elementary schooler just getting the hang of reading for pleasure.

Great books, I would recommend them!

My 7 year old daughter cannot get enough of these books. She will read them over and over, laughing the whole time. She LOVES them and we wish the author would put out more! I will read them aloud for our other children and even our 2 year old loves the story and thinks Dory is so funny and clever. These are must read books for children.

My daughter who is 7 loves these books. We are currently on the second one, she giggles so much when I read to her and loves to show other people the illustrations and tell them the funny things that Dory does. I think my daughter will enjoy reading this to herself and I am sure we will be reading them again once we are finished. Highly recommend.
