I Love it!
I remember when I first saw this, I was about 9 and I rented it from the video store. I loved (and still love) this movie! It is actually more creepy then all the others because of the bug eyed monster and my favorite the ghost of Susan! Ok down to business: 5 out of 5 stars. <<<<The movie starts out with a woman, Melanie and her "husband" John. They go to the infamous Long Island house to attend a sceance by an elderly couple. Melanie and John reference that they had a little boy and he died some five years ago. During the sceance they see a greenish light. Melanie jumps up and starts taking photos and it is discovered that the elderly couple were scamming them all along. John knows about the house's troubled history and he was there with Melanie doing an article for their ghost magazine. John seems interested in buying the house so he sets up an appoitment and goes to see it. The man selling it is Clifford Sanders and tells John the reason why it's so cheap is because of the history and how he can't even "unload" (sell) any of the houses next to it. Since it was a cheap investment and he needs more space he moves into it. When he goes to show it to his daughter Susan, so she can pick out a room for herself when she isn't with her mother who refuses to set foot on the property they find Mr. Sanders dead and some flys around him. (remember those things from part 1&2?) A few days later Susan brings her best friend Lisa to the house because Lisa is a ghost fanatic. They talk about the house and decide to set up their own sceance using a makeshift Ouija board and bring some others over. Lisa asks the question "Is anyone in this room in any danger?" and the glass their using moves to "yes" and the glass is mysteriously thrown against the floor. Since there are a bunch of people there they decide to go boating since there is a bulkhead in the back and a boat. When John gets home there is an ambulance there and it seems that Susan hit her head and fell off the boat. He tells his wife (who's now going on the property) who was inside and she doesn't believe him because she just saw a waterlogged Susan slowly drift into an upstairs room. John just thinks that she is just too upset to accept the fact that she is dead. Meanwhile, Melanie took some photos of the property with John while with Sanders and discovers that the photos are messed up. But they are only messed up around where the image of Sanders is. She takes a magnifying glass and it reveals an evil looking snake under his eye. She gets in her car and drives to the house when she is in a terrible car accident where she is burned alive! After John has many many MANY strange occurences from the house he decides to bring in Dr. Elliot West and a group of scientists to probe the house (like on POLTERGEIST) and discovers that there is an evil being living under the house in a well. (SPOILERS!) When he finds out the house goes awry, dragging Dr. Elliot down to Hell and makes the house explode. Everyone else is safe. Then a purple fly lingers infront of the screen telling us that it isn't over! >>>>>>>>>>>If you have to see one Amityville flick, I highly reccomend this one! Just because it's not in 3D you still get an effective story!

Meg Ryan, Haunted Houses, Killer Flies, and 3-D
This movie is not as bad as everyone says. As a matter of fact it is a guilty pleasure. Not a whole lot of people talk about Meg Ryan as a young white trash ghost hunter in this film. And they fail to mention her terrible haircut. There are some genuine scenes in the film that made me jump. Doors slamming open, suprises behind doors. The scene where Meg Ryan says "whoo ooo" into the well (supposed gate to hell) in the basement, and a voice moans back from the well is chill inducing. This looks like a Lucio Fulci movie (The Beyond, Gates of Hell, Zombi), as in the dark mood of the film. Maybe that is why I like it so much. The opening seance scene is effective and filmed quite well. However there are some laughable moments which include:the flies in the attic, followed by the over-acted death of the fat man. The out of control elevator is also funny. Some of the score music sounds like it should be from a comedy film. And you can see the strings attached to the stuff that flies at the camera for the 3-d effect. This is a fun film with a dark mood, very appropriate for halloween time.

Thought I was sent the wrong movie
Ordered the 'Amityville 3-D' movie and got 'Amityville III: The Demon' instead. Thought I had been sent the wrong movie, but looking online I found that it's the same movie, just the title had been changed. This movie came on TV recently and I only caught part of it - but it looked like one of the actors was Meg Ryan - and it was. So I wanted to see the whole movie but couldn't find it on any of the streaming services that I subscribe to - so I ordered a copy. The movie is pretty cheesy - as most of these Amityville movies tend to be. But I liked it, and happy to have a copy of it in my video collection.

I hope he had homeowner's insurance.
Not too bad. I liked it much more than the Amityville "possessed" lamp film.I could see which things were supposed to be in 3-D even though I couldn't find my 3-D glasses before watching. The funniest was the microphone. Probably much more terrifying if it leapt off the screen. If I can find my 3-D glasses tomorrow I might just watch it again.

NOT 3D !!!!!!!
This bluray has no 3d option. Cover reads Amityville 3, not 3d. Therefore I think this should not be listed as Amityville 3D. The only way you can get an idea of what this film is like in 3d is to use the 2d to 3d convesion on your bluray 3d player. The disc does have options for the original English language version & the dubbed Italian version + optional Italian subtitles. I really only wrote this review so that no one else thinks they are ordering a 3d bluray and is disappointed.

A okay addition to the saga.
This movie is in VHS format, there is a DVD version though. There is NO 3-D effect in this movie for the home purchase, which is fine by me. This movie is the third part in the Amityville saga of 9+ movies. It was alright, I didn't really love this movie, but it was okay. The effects are cheesy and the movie is dated, understandably, but the quality could be better. If you love the series, you should have this for your collection, but I prefer the 6th movie... Amityville 1992: Its about time!

lacks a punch but worth viewing
Arrived in swift time. seem all amityville franchises and recollect them as felt thr first one had more to offer in terms of haunting affecting encounters more hair raising scenes. This kne was good, but moderate suspense waiting for something to energe.effects where fine, but nothing to write home about. Could have been improved or updated by remastering the film. Missing a cutting edge.prepare for a dramatic end conclusion

It's the full version! That's the good news!
I've been looking for the 'proper' version of this movie where it hasn't been butchered & it IS the full version! That's the only good thing about this movie! It looks washed out, will only play back in 4:3 ratio & the sound is nothing to write home about. In this age of digitally remastering movies this one could seriously do with it!

Yawnsville 3.
I thought this would be a good movie as it is a good era for me, but no, I found it boring. Maybe I should've had a couple of cans and It might've been fun, but I very much doubt it.
