The first bag of these that I bought were long strips of jerky, maybe 5" long. The most recent bag that I received contains round flat "coins" of jerky. My dog still likes these, but I prefer the long strips. The coins seem much harder and drier and are more difficult to tear into treat-size pieces.

I order these (and other flavors of the same brand) every month on a subscription. My dog loves them, they can easily be broken into small pieces for training, and she doesn’t lose interest in them like with other treats. However, on occasion this beef flavor arrives with moldy pieces in the bag.This latest is by far the worst - as seen through the clear window on the bag, every piece is COVERED in white mold with green spots. You can see in the picture, the bag on the right is how they’re supposed to look, and the bag on the left is full of mold. I did not open either of the bags. This picture was taken immediately after opening the shipping box they arrived in, on the day it was delivered. The expiration date on both bags of treats is the same: November of next year (2021). That’s almost a year an a half away, and already these treats are disgusting with mold.This whole line of jerky treats is inconsistent, across all three flavors I buy. Sometimes they are dry, sometimes they’re moist. Sometimes they are well formed, sometimes they’re so crumbly almost a third of the bag is nothing but crumbs. Sometimes they’re uniform in color, sometimes the inside is red as if they’re raw inside.Like I said, when they arrive in good condition, my dog loves them. It’s just such a shame having to thoroughly inspect each bag, and not being able to trust this company to deliver a product of consistent quality. If you buy these, be careful. Check the expiration date, which is hard to see because it’s printed in almost the same color as the back of the bag. Then, even if they’re not expired, check them over thoroughly. Look for mold even before you open the bag. Note the smell when you first open the bag. If it smells like rancid meat, throw them away. Break one or two of them open. If there’s red in the middle, throw them away. If your dog refuses to eat them, or even just isn’t super excited about them, throw them away. When they’re good quality my dog perks right up and begs for more. That’s the reaction you should be looking for, if on the other hand your dog seems disinterested it could be a bad batch so throw the treats away.

My package arrived within the time given. It was packed well and got a couple of tails wagging when I cut the seal on the bag. They smell suitable enough for human consumption (but DON'T do that- for your dogs only). My boys love these. If you're having a problem getting them into their kennel, just drop one of these in and your problems are over. My boys love the beef and the chicken too. Yes, I recommend Prairie Dog Smokehouse Jerky treats. I can't imagine a dog that wouldn't love eating these.

Last purchases all arrived in tiny pieces. Reluctant to buy again.Great all BEEF product which is hard to find. Really bummed. Always liked it for the dogs. So now what?!

Healthy, clean, trustworthy treat the dogs love. They work great for training. The smell if pretty strong, so not great to put in your pocket and DEFINTELY need to wash your hands after, but … the smell if what helps with training (for my pups anyway).

I’ve brought this product other places for my pet, so I know how it’s suppose to be. When it was delivered all the treats were broken and in crumbs. Not cool, at all.

if they had doggie crack this would be itgreat to train with for a bit but then dog goes nuts and can only think "treat, treat, treat, treat"i am pretty sure my dog is plotting to sell me for $5 on the street so she can get more of these .. the puppy agrees and feels they should just take what they get because can't possibly have enough for 2 dogs.

Last 3 or so bags have been broken and crumbled. Not strips or medallions. My dog loves them though. Three star rating because of the crumbles.
