It does not on real gold, however when testing plated or other metals it will, hope that helps

It depends on where you buy it. The solution is getting more expensive lately. It used to be less than $20 and now it is close to $27.

Can you test gold bullion and coins with this

Yes both can be tested with the M24, I no longer own my M24 as I sold it and purchased a KEE Gold Tester, check them out as I believe you will like the KEE Gold Tester over the M24 as I prefer it 10 to 1 over the M24.Regards,Terry L. Shookof Carolina Coins and Detectors
