Great Informative Book
I have to say I love this author’s books. I teach 8th grade, yet I put her scientific books on my shelves because my reluctant readers will pick them up. Then I hear them talking about what they learned. This book has two parts on each page. The author takes you through the history of the 1919 eclipse. In a second box she adds more detailed information. This is what my eighth grader enjoy. I myself had never known about the first eclipse photographed, and what they learned from it. I highly recommend this book.

Must Have for any Science Teacher
You must have the Darcy Pattison and Peter Willis Science collection in your library. Well written and wonderful illustrations. Olde students love these books as well as the younger ones.

Can not recommend
I am very disappointed in the book. The writing and way of telling the story is not engaging, and the educational value is less than I hoped, with some inaccuracies.Don’t bother.

Engaging and Accessible
Engaging book from an excellent science writer. It will get kids excited for the coming eclipse and help them understand what's happening.

Significant ‘other moments’ in science
Darcy Pattison is an Arkansas children's book author and writing teacher. In 1999, she created the Novel Revision Retreat, which she now teaches across the nation. As a children's book author her books have been translated into ten languages, and have been recognized for excellence by starred reviews, Book of the Year awards, state award lists and more. She is the 2007 recipient of the Arkansas Governor's Arts Award for Individual Artist for her work in children's literature. For her science moments she has offered four National Science Teachers Association Science Trade Books. In this fine ‘moments in history’ Darcy relates her version of the importance of the 1919 solar eclipse with the excellent illustrations by British illustrator Peter Willis. The important and delightful telling of this event makes us all understand Einstein better.Making science fun is a gift Darcy owns and with the aid of Peter Willis she brings special discovery moments alive. Excellent for youngsters (and adults…). Recommended. Grady Harp, June 19I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book
