Great bit of kit for any small studio
Does a great job but you may benefit from using a USB-C to USB-C cable (not supplied)PC/Mac interface is great and intuitive. Sound quality as good as you would hope for.Lovely display on the unit helps set levels.Chose this over the "lower" model as it has 4 ins/outs and midi but didnt need the "bigger" versions with more ins/outs.

Won’t get any better quality for a price
I bought this for my friend as I got one from 2 years. Simply won’t beat quality/price

Best in class
First plug Guitar in , worked perfectly, then Mic again perfect incredibly clear preamps for the price no silly 3rd party app in the middle all done inside Studio One or Cubase. Drives my Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 ohms headphones with a breeze. Cable is way to short but its a common USB C so cheap to buy a decent length. Sadly mine arrived with a broken screen with lines across and down, so clearly Motu have ZERO quality control or who makes it for them. Only option was a refund no replacement so will wait for refund and order another.I have now added the ifi Zen phono stage to rip my vinyl works perfectly !!

Didn't drive AKG K702. Didn't work with M1Ultra Mac Studio. Volume knobs felt too loose.
Tried two Motu M4 units. Looked nice. Neither worked with M1Ultra Mac Studio (which to be fair had its own issues with whine and performance in Logic and both Mac Studios were eventually returned for refund). Both M4Motu gave garbled audio which was like playing a very scratched CD. Perhaps a firmware update could have fixed this as I did get sound out of the second one on an older Mac. Both Motu M4 units were made in China. I'm in UK. Volume knobs felt a bit loose and varied between both units with one looser than the other and vice versa. I didn't troubleshoot further as the headphone monitor was too quiet at full volume to use with AKG K702 (62 Ohms) headphones. In the end I couldn't get monitors without their own hum/hiss issues so it was good this didn't work as I gave up trying to get speakers and interface. 4-5x more would need to be spent to get what I was looking for I think. Classical musician.

Fantastic upgrade from my previous interface.
I previously owned an Roland FA-66, which was basically a tank that stood the test of time for roughly 15 years, and probably could have gone on for another 15! But sadly the tech became outdated, my latest macbook pro only has USB C ports, and the FA-66 used Firewire to plug into a computer.Running the audio interface through a Firewire > Thunderbolt, then a Thunderbolt > USB-C did actually work, but was inconsistent and eventually would disconnect - which during recording and playing, would become extremely frustrating (Note: It was the original thunderbolt port, which was more square shape, not the latest USB-C version, hence why I needed two converters).I was on the lookout for a new piece of kit to essentially replace this legend, and after doing countless hours of research (youtube reviews, online forums, reddit groups), I came upon the M4.What caught my eye was the visual level display on the front, which in practice is extremely helpful and quicker for tweaking how hot you want the mic to record vocals or live instruments. It also has a direct USB-C connection, so very much of the latest connection tech, which sealed the deal. After setting it up, I have to say it is perfect. Extremely simple to connect, follow the software instructions and download the latest firmware - I simply couldn't be happier. The mic noise is extremely low, and made me realise how noisy my previous one was. With a compressor microphone, I am picking up nothing except the sound I want to capture.I use Ableton Live to connect, and it works seamlessly. Honestly, If I were to break it myself in the future for some accidental reason, I would purchase it again immediately. It does the job, and it does it extremely well! Also, it's worth noting that it has an actual power switch on the back. Some other audio interfaces turn on immediately when plugged in, which can be annoying when you just want to leave it plugged in on your sound desk but turned off when not in use.
