Literacy Work Stations

Very helpful
I am a second year second-grade teacher, looking to improve my reading centers. This book is very practical, but also provides rationales for why to provide each center, and gives concrete examples of adaptations for different grade levels, K-2. The book addresses many kind of centers, too, more than I would even try to implement in one year. Unlike other books that are mainly about reproducibles and activities (although there are some) this book shows you how you can use classroom materials you already have, and adapt lessons previously taught, in your centers. I think this is going to help me get off to a strong start this year.

Excellent Resource
This book is very concise and explicit. It is the perfect resource for beginning teachers or experienced teachers to help them plan and implement literacy stations. I use it to help teachers plan their stations and to understand the reasons for having stations. Debbie Diller did an amazing job with this book.

Great book
This book is going to be a lifesaver for me and my students. I have been struggling to find a way to differentiate in my kindergarten classroom. Work stations will help me tremendously.

Definitely worth the read!
I teach 3rd grade and started using centers last year in my classroom for the first time ever. Although my first year wasn't bad, I knew I wanted this coming school year to be much better and more organized than the last. Debbie Diller gives many great ideas and tips to manage centers and keep them fresh all year long. Although this book would be a 5 STAR book for K-2 grade teachers, I would also recommend it for 3rd grade teachers as well who are capable of using Debbie Diller's ideas given and "tweek" them to make them work for the older kids. This book was an EASY read! Be prepared to write down many of her ideas or highlight them to implement them into your classroom!

Literacy Work Stations
I got this on my Kindle FireHD. I love the book and using it on the Kindle. I am already thinking and planning for next year and there are many good ideas that I am looking forward to using. Having short mini lessons and breaking up seat time makes sense (even though it is the end of the year I have seen this make a difference in my class in the few times I have been able to use the idea). Very good ideas on setting up and having a library center. I have another book by Diller on room organization and so she is already a favorite author!

LOVE IT
I actually have two copies of this book. I had misplaced my first copy and had to have another one. I use these ideas throughout my kindergarten classroom. It would be even better for first and second grade classrooms. I use the "I Can" lists and management board ideas. This book really helps make centers work. I plan on giving one as a gift any time I have a student teacher. If you can only buy one book, this is the one to buy!

Guide to great stations
My cooperating teacher suggested that I look at this book because it's where she got her ideas for literacy stations. It is a great guide, and great way to come up with ideas, I used this to successfully implement literacy stations in 1st grade and 6th grade.
