Good Budget Stones
These are great if you're on a budget or need stones that you don't mind getting damaged for portable use. They are quite light weighing only only around a third what the 9.2 mm Yunzi stones do. As a result, they don't make the best sound on a real board though the single convex shape allows for a nice snap with practice at the risk of sending stones flying across the board. These should never chip or break under normal circumstances unlike glass or Yunzi can though they might scratch. My only complaint is that quality control could use some work (visible seams, discoloration, undersized stones). Yellow Mountain Imports graciously sent me a replacement set after I contacted them about the defectives in the first set so five stars for them. Between the two I came out with a fairly good complete set of both colors. I would have prefered not having to go through this hassle, but at this price I can't complain much. It was partly my fault anyway for being so picky.Still, I'd recommend getting the Yunzi by Yellow Mountain Imports instead if you can afford to as I think the step up in quality is more than worth the higher price.

Solid-feeling Go stones
Take a look at the Double Convex Go Game Stones . It's the same material, but thicker, and the double covex is more elegant to play. Summary of the below: there are better go stones, but expect to pay more than $50. Avoid glass go stone, these are better than glass.I've had a set of shell and slate stones for years. Many of the slate stones in my old set are now chipped, jagged, awful looking. The old shell stones still look fantastic, but I needed a replacement for the black slate stones. I've looked at glass go stones, and I've seen the same chipping problem. These hi-tech stones are quite nice! I'll recommend them right off.First impression -- no jagged chips anywhere! Some on my original slate stones came chipped, and it's worsened considerably over time. I tried a bit of indestructibility testing, mashing these stones together, and shaking them together roughly. No chips. A hammer tap that destroys a slate stone does nothing to these.Second impression -- slightly light, compared to shell, but much-much heavier than plastic. Nice texture. Pouring a handful of them feels and sounds good. Playing a stone sounds good.Third impression -- Shell stones cost *that* much now ($300+)? I definitely like shell stones, but I don't like chippy slate, glass, or onyx. Exotic minerals at go-stones.com cost as much as shell.I haven't tried the Marble or Yunzi stones, but I wouldn't rule them out. These weird Hi-tech stones are quite good, in any event. The plastic containers they come in are cheap, but highly appreciated.I'd love to get a thicker, 2-sided version of these same stones (I found out about Double Convex Go Game Stones a bit later).

Better than Biconvex for teaching and correspondence games.
My set is uniform in size and has a clean, matte finish. I'm not a fan of traditional Go bowls, so I'm glad to use these with Rubbermaid Locking "Lock It" (the 3 cup size) plastic food storage containers.Although biconvex stones might be preferred for in person games, for learning, tutorials, correspondence (e.g DragonGo server) games, study, etc., single convex (one flat side) is better. Why? I can have the game stones set flat side down as expected, but use my tutoring stones ("If I do this, he will do that, then this, etc") flat side UP. That way, when I've played several projected moves ahead, I can easily see and remove my stones and yet leave the true "base" game stones in place. Ah ha!Great stones, inexpensive, lighter than Yunzi stones yet not fly away light like some inexpensive stones. Winner!

Great stones
I bought this as a started set while I tipped my toe into the game of Go. they are durable, easy to handle, and have a very nice look and feel to them. The cases that they come in are a little flimsy and cheap, but that's not what I bought them for. The stones are great, I'm looking forward to having some great games with these stones.

Good beginner set on the cheap
It is a good inexpensive WeiQi set. No board comes with the set, but they are usually flimpsy anyway, so you better buy it separately or make your own. The plastic containers come with the set did not close properly, so I simply replaced them with two good take-out-Chinese-food containers. My son complained that the color of the black GO smear on his hands. I am not sure of that. Thought I should wash them before use, but since they are "antibacterial", so I skipped the step. Maybe wash them can resolve the smear problem or wash the black color away entirely? Can't take the risk.It is made of solid surface material, sort of "Corian" type - those material you can use as your countertop in stead of real stone. It feels a little light in the hand compare to YunZi. But good enough for Kids learning WeiQi. Did not try to smash it, so not sure if the "indestructible" claim is true or not. Liked the single convex shape, it stays in place.

A bit too big and tough to pick up
I found the stones to be too big to fit on the nodes of a standard go board without pushing each other out of place. I ended up placing adjacent stones upside down to overlap them somewhat. That brings me to the next problem: the stones are flat on one side which makes them difficult to pick up once they are on the board. Other than those two issues, they are a decent set of inexpensive go stones.

Good quality marbles
As a beginner, I find the marbles good for my need. There are spare marbles. The size and weight are both consistently measured. Also, the marbles fits well with my baduk mat that I bought separately. I am happy with this purchase. It is not bulky when I travel with this game and other board games.

You get what you pay for
These stones were exactly as advertised. I would have been happier had I been able to find higher quality stones with more heft and oval rather than flat bottoms.
