Glass Bacon Press

This press looks great and works great. It is glass and presumably fragile so be careful. At $2, you cannot go wrong. You should buy one.

We love how the bacon press works on burgers and bacon. Cooking time is just about cut in half. Being able to see through the glass helps a lot. The only negative thing I have noticed is the screw that connects the handle will not tighten properly and has stripped to a certain degree.

I originally gave this item a 1 star review as it was missing an important piece. But my husband took the screw and glass to the local hardware store and luckily found a knob that worked. So press works fine now.

After reading both the pro and con about this glass bacon press, I decided to give it a try. The price was right and I liked the ability to see the bacon doneness as it was cooking. I am happy with my decision. This is a great press. It fits my 9 inch fry pan just right. After cooking I drain the fat into a stove top container and put the press back in the fry pan and set aside to cool. If I make more bacon, it is ready to go. I allow the press and pan to cool or heat together. I have had absolutely no problem with the glass cracking or breading. As with any non-tempered glass, you have to excercise care not to put a cold glass on hot grease of a hot glass into cold water. Again for the price this is an amazing bacon cooking tool.

This glass press keeps the bacon flat while cooking in the pan. I do wish it were slightly larger in diameter, but as I'm only doing 4-6 slices at a time, it works just fine. Easy to clean in the dishwasher. This works better than the heavier cast iron bacon presses I've tried because it still allows the bacon to sizzle, rather than be completely pressed flat on the bottom of the skillet.

was fine at first but after a few months, was cooking with it, removed from pan and there was a large crack in the glass; same thing happened to the one like it that we gave as a gift. :(

The handle came off due to the screw getting so hot it melted the threads. I use a spatula to lift it off now and frankly i would not give this away or toss it out for anything. I use this at least three to four times a week making bacon in the microwave and i get fantastic results as far as preventing shrinkage. Bacon does not stick to it and the weight is perfect for my bacon. My only complaint is i can not find one with a bigger diameter. I waited to write this review for almost a year and frankly I would recommend it and have to members of my family and friends. Everyone seems to have the same initial problem with the knob. One has replaced the knob using a high temperature plastic. Be careful if you use a spatula it can slip off and break or damage the floor and a toe. Very hot after use Da. Still looking for larger one. to fit my bacon dish for microwaves. 10 inch in diameter.
