Good book for someone with no experience in film making
Good book for someone with no experience in film making, I had to do some research. But, I shot a feature documentary that released in 2013 and was distributed on VoD world wide. As a matter of fact, you can find it on Amazon.

Story! Story! Story! Pretty pictures aren't enough...
I picked up this book midway through editing my current documentary project, and it blew me away! The first 60 pages alone gave me hundreds of ideas to solve the problem parts where my film bogs down under the weight of details. Weeks of rough cuts and re-edits were solved by a simple Saturday morning read. Sheila Curran Bernard's book gives you the tools to strip your story down to its essentials, while not compromising on depth, honesty and integrity.Well done and a must have!

Well written and well detailed
Enjoying this book very much. The writing is personable while providing solid information. If you want your documentaries to be more interesting, attract more attention, read this book. The author breaks down the elements of storytelling and relates them to the concept of non-fictional, informational presentations. A must-have to any filmmaker's or videographer's library.

Great Book.
This book is a gem of practical actionable advice to get your documentary made. Wish I read it before I began my first documentary. But glad I have it as kind of a road map for my second. Anybody that is interested in making feature docs should get this book.

solid information from an experienced documentary storyteller
I haven't read many books on this subject, but the author clearly knows her stuff and provides good, solid, usable information, about the process. I would recommend this book.

Very useful
If you struggle trying to find original ideas about how to shape the narrative of your documentary you should get this book. Nothing is too abstract and you will be inspired by many original ways of how to get your story running when you feel you're stuck with your footage.

Great book
I bought it for a level 5 course I am applying for which focusses on documentary filmmaking, however the book offers a lot more that the cover suggest. It is full of interesting theories, practical examples and good quotes. Highly recommended for any film student.

Good, but . . .
Some very good advice but I couldn't help feeling it was padded out too much. Could have been a shorter and more concise book.

Good good
Bought for my brother. He works in cinematography in events and wants to branch out into more creative projects soon as he gets more time to travel.I've not read it myself so this is a made up review. It came in good condition and my brother appreciates it, is reading it (he wouldn't if it was no use to him) and is enjoying it.Seems to be a good book, and a beneficial read for film makers and story tellers.

Pretty darn good.
I have found this book to be useful, if not a little light on content.Having said that, I have no problems recommending it.Well worth the price of addmission.
