Nice bulbs
I wish there was a more detailed user manual but admittedly I didn't look at it thoroughly the first time either. Basically it is not as straight forward as I thought. Once I get the hang of it, it was really amazing to use. The bottom line is that it needs to stay in a "closed circuit" in order to be utilized. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of it, for example, if you put the bulb in a lamp and unplug (without connecting the prones of the plug with a piece of wet cloth), it simply won't work. However, if you keep the plug inside the wall outlet, the bulb stays in a closed circuit and will work as expected when you turn on the switch. A simple way of testing the bulb to work inside a closed circuit is to use my own fingers to connect the tip and the threads of the base of the bulb - the bulb will light up.I bought these bulbs just right before we knew a planned outage was coming (this is the first time we ever felt excited about a power outage LOL). Didn't know whether the bulbs were fully charged or not, we had to keep them on for about 10 hours (so it stayed charged) in the lamp (which is how it was supposed to get charged) then turned it off. When the power outage finally came we got all excited seeing that this bulb did work as soon as we flip on the switch. some more detailed information of this bulb: the size of the bulb is identical to a regular-sized bulb which I normally use. In most of the days I used it as a regular LED bulb for energy saving purposes and it worked great, brightness was good. It can work on its battery for about 4 hours one the power is out. There a few other cool ways to use it, such as showing a nice magic trick to my son by lighting it up with my fingers, or more practically, putting on the cook-cap and carry it around as I would a lantern. I like this quality tech bulb and would recommend it to my friends.

Sure wish I knew about these before we lost power for 3 days!
I'm almost looking forward to being the only house on the street with lights the next time a large storm hits us here in New England! Our neighbor has a generator, so his place was lit up after the last storm, but the rest of us had just oil lanterns and flashlights. Our daughter and her husband didn't have power for a week, since a tree fell directly onto the power lines to their house, so I am going to be buying some of these for them soon. I really love that they are just regular lightbulbs and charge up using the normal electrical power going to your lamp! When we loose power, all I need to do is go to the lamps and switch them to battery power now!Although we're planning on buying a generator next month, mostly because it's now winter, and our heating system won't work without electricity, I know that we are going to be using these as well!Nor'easters are no joke in Massachusetts and the rest of our New England neighbors!

Seems to work as advertised.
Haven't had a power outage yet but it seems to work fine. I like that it is mobile. I think anyone having difficulty might (like my friend) not have understood the concept. Need to read the directions carefully so you know what to expect.

Hurricane Zeta Approved!
I apologize for just getting around to this review.I had these installed in two smaller fixtures when the west eye wall of Hurricane Zeta came through. While the house creaked and moaned in the wind, the power went out. These two lights, since they had been on for 8 hours a day prior, immediately came on (they were on at the time Zeta knocked out power) and allowed me plenty of time and illumination to grab my other long term emergency lighting and power stations. In the complete darkness of a hurricane at night, with no one having light, it can be VERY dark. These lights seemed all the brighter!Since then they have been on at least every other day for a few hours. They are bright, don't get warm, and seem to be as energy efficient as the regular LED bulbs they replaced. I've been so pleased with the results I purchased two more. One for bathroom ceiling light, and one spare. I recommend these strongly!

Great for power outage
I screwed these bulbs into lamps I don't use much. I had a power outage. I just turned light on, and I used it for 4 hours until it got light out. Nice not to have to sit in dark. Didn't have to use the end piece.
