KENUCO SOHO Mini 10'' Rack for 10'' Patch Panels, Shelves, SOHO Active Components | Fan Not Included | NOT for 19'' Rack | 6U

I purchased the KENUCO SOHO Mini 10'' Rack (9U height) in August 2023 in order to organize my small home network equipment (router, switch, video monitoring server, and an RPi4-based print/music/management server in an Argon One M.2 case). The KENUCO 10" rack was much more affordably priced than other cut-down width equipment racks in the US (sourced from A/V vendors), and seemed to be competitively-priced compared to what I could build myself with Penn Elcom rails to the level of fit/finish I was looking for. A Wikipedia article on 19" racks shows the 10" width equipment rack specification as reduced in width from the standard 19" equipment rack specification, with the key difference being a narrower space between the vertical mounting rails and mounting holes. The vertical spacing of equipment (rack units) and the mounting holes in the rails are the same. In the US I have observed two A/V equipment vendors selling "half rack" (half-width rack) equipment racks similar to the 10" rack, but with slightly different dimensions: (Extron and Middle Atlantic Products (MAP)). I believe these are the width dimensions for each: 19" rack: clear space between vertical rails: 17.75", mounting holes horiz. distance: 18.312" on center 10" rack: clear space between vertical rails: 8.75", mounting holes horiz. distance: 9.312" on center Extron "half rack": clear space between rails: 8.85", mounting holes horiz. distance: ? (slightly more than [the] 10" [rack's distance]) MAP "half rack": clear space between rails: 9.2", mounting holes horiz. distance: 9.73" In all cases the rack is designed for an overlap of the front panel (or equipment mounting "ears") to cover the vertical rails so the equipment can be bolted to the rack. The 19" rack has about 19" total space, the 10" rack 10" or a little more, with the Extron "half-width" rack allowing about 10.1" and the MAP "half-width" rack leaving at least 10.4". Unfortunately, since the 10" rack specification is smaller than either of the two "half-width" rack specs, accessories/equipment designed for one of the US half-width racks may not fit a 10" rack. Stuff targeted at the Extron spec has a better chance of fitting than stuff targeted at the MAP spec, I think, especially if it has horizontally-elongated mounting holes and doesn't push the equipment width to the limit. The Kenuco rack itself is a credible shrunken-down instance of the 19" equipment racks that I've worked with in data centers. Mine came with a fan installed in the top, a glassed, locking front door, and removable/locking side panels. It was exceedingly well packaged and arrived undamaged. Since most small home equipment doesn't come ready to mount to the 10" standard, shelves seem like the best approach to place equipment in the rack. It came with two partial shelves that could be bridged by a DIY panel, or it will accept standard 10" width rack shelves if you can find them affordably sourced in the US. I bought one Intellinet 10" width 1U shelf, but at $30 found it rather costly. Fortunately, I know a high school metal fab shop that agreed to take on fabricating some standard spec shelves for me as a student project. It may be overkill if all you have is a router, and I wouldn't try to mount a Wireless Access Point in one because its metal walls will act like a Faraday cage. For me, with four+ pieces of equipment to organize, along with some cabling, it is a fun way to play home data center.

Edit: Fixed it by printing some spacers and getting longer screws. Now it's perfect except the fan that is a bit loud. Good quality and all but the rails I received on my rack are thinner making it more like 13 inches instead of 10. The parts I have printed won't fit because of this.

I loved this rack so much I had to get a second one! I’m using one as a dedicated server rack and the other as a computing rack. The build quality is solid, and it’s very easy to work with — especially since the side panels can be removed for quick access. Perfect choice for compact setups or small home labs.

This product has been a nightmare for me. Full disclosure: I am currently using it and enjoying it after months of work, but it has taken far more effort than it's worth. The first error is that they sent two, leaving me with a heavy and bulky package to return (I was notified by Amazon the day before it was delivered that two would be arriving for whatever reason and I must return one of them). The rack arrived with 11" rack spacing instead of 10". I don't even know how you make this type of manufacturing mistake and no, the rails are not horizontally adjustable. Huge credit to Print3dSteve on Etsy who was able to make custom rack "ears" for me so that I can live with the spacing. The door is literally glued together and does not have a metal frame, so it is ever-so-slightly askew. To remedy this, there are 4 holes for rubber bumpers to have it close softly and evenly-flush. This would be a good workaround for a bad-manufacturing-tolerance issue if they had installed all 4 bumpers, but no- only one was installed. After weeks of messaging Kenuco customer support and being brazenly lied to regarding "we'll send the bumpers right away!" and "your request was misplaced by our 'shipping department'" ... every time ... I eventually ordered rubber feet and cut them to the erroneous sizing myself. I'm more floored that I had to email them tens of times and either be ghosted or simply lied to. Lastly, the lock on the front handle is ridiculously cheap and flimsy. I feel like it's going to break every time I insert the key. Save yourself the trouble. As neat as the features of this rack are, you can get something better for half the price- something that will come put together correctly the first time around.

This thing is AWESOME!!! 3D printed a few racks for my UniFi gateway Ultra, my USW 80 switch and my flex mini 2.5 switch. And I still have room to mount a few raspberry pi’s to add to my pi cluster. Comes with the fan (but says it doesn’t?) it’s really loud. My stuff doesn’t run hot so I didn’t plug it in. Might replace it with a quieter noctua or something but I really don’t need it. It’s very very customizable. You can move the front racks back if you need to. It being closed means no one can mess with anything inside and all sides lock. Highly recommend this for small 10” set ups

This will not work with standard 10in rack accessories (like geeekpi or deskpi...trust me i tried). I'm gonna help you out and help you avoid a lengthy internet search. This will work with INTELLINET 10 Inch Cantilever Shelf and INTELLINET Patch panel - 10in 10port (mind you expensive overseas items). But fear not because 3d printing will save the day. Look for 'Mauker' on Makerworld or 'Maurício Pessoa' on Printables. All his designs work in this rack. Overall great rack quality. I traded out loud AC fan for Noctua one that was driven by AC to DC controller. My rack was more off white than pure white. The glass was thick and rigid for the door.

Overall good build quality, though it seems the newer versions come with thinner rails which means 10" accessories don't fit out of the box. For reference, I purchased the 9u version (Novaspirit Tech on YouTube got the 6u version which seems to have the thicker rails). I went to Lowe's (can probably find the equivalent at your local hardware store) and purchased packs of nylon spacers (1/2 x .257 x 1/2) and longer screws to fit the spacers (M6-1.00 x 25), using M6 means they will work with the existing nuts that come with the rack. With spacers on both sides like in my picture I was able to get my shelves and other accessories mounted. Another note is the fan that comes with it is pretty loud and doesn't offer any speed control if you care about noise. Overall I'm satisfied, but I bought it knowing it would probably need modification. If you're looking for a "works as is" solution, this is probably not the one for you.

I purchased the Rack to house my Ubiquiti equipment and I thought it would be perfect. The build quality is solid material and there is ample room for cabling. I assembled the unit and started adding the accessories I purchased separately. The TRENDnet TC-P12C6 fit fine but there was a problem, the Middle Atlantic 10" half-width Rack shelf didn't fit and neither did the Atlas Sound Half-Width Rack Power Conditioner. My first thought was I invested a lot of money to complete the setup and none of the accessories would fit the unit because of a few centimeters. Luckily I noticed a simple elbow grease way to get it all to work. I used a small bolt cutter to cut out about an inch of the front slide rails in each corner that hold in the front mounting panels. Removing the sections allowed me to mount the front panels on the outside of the mount rails instead of the inside. The back of the rack has no issues with this because the gap already exists. I am a little puzzled why the extra inch of the rail in the front corners of the unit are required to exist as it doesn't appear they help support the structure of the well built unit in the first place. Not having the inch of rail there would allow the front panels to be mounted on either side just like you can on the rear of the rack. Other than that little ordeal I love the unit. Photos added for 9U and 4U models and where I cut to get it all to fit.

This is a very solid, fully enclosed rack. It would be perfect for a garage or a small business server closet, especially since you can lock and unlock 3 sides. The back can't be removed since it's designed to be mounted to a wall if you wish, so that has to be load bearing. 2 shelf brackets are included, and LOADS of spring mounted rack nuts (and the other hardware you need)! The front rack can be shifted a bit back or forward, depending on how far your patch cables stick out from your patch panel/switch. There's is a very beefy fan, despite what the description says. It's 120mm, AC, I think 1.5" deep and has an aluminum body. And it's extremely LOUD! Not suitable for having this rack in your office, this needs to be in another room if you use this fan. If you don't want that, you can swap in any other 120mm DC fan which is certainly much quieter but won't give you the air movement or grounding point this fan would. Amazing rack for a homelab to keep things tidy and quiet.

Extremely well built. The width was perfect. Included 2 side "L"s to help with heavier items. I 3D printed a 10" Rack Mount kit for Lenovo Tiny to use for a small network with video surveillance. This is the smallest and has enough for 4 1U devices. Patch Panel, Router, PoE Switch and Lenovo Tiny. A 19" rack would have been massive for these 4 devices. I hope to see this vendor selling them again. I will use it again for future clients with small networks.

This is one solid unit, but the availability of 10" gear and racks is a very sad state in Canada. Pretty much everything will need to be shelved, and if you shop around Europe you can find some reasonably priced ones (if you're spending over $10 per U you're spending too much). I would only recommend this if keeping your 10" gear behind lock and key is important. You could nearly fit a full 19" rack in the same volume (so long as you don't mind the sides being exposed).

A quality wall cabinet for 10" components. Very pleased and recommended.
