Stormy KromerMackinaw Coat - Outerwear Men's Flannel Jacket, Wool Coat for Men

Great quality, very warm, highly impressed - Northstar pattern
Im a huge fan of this jacket. It's not bulky but still warm as it's made completely of wool. The design is simple but very practical. There is no interior layer or lining, so the wool will be directly in contact w/ your skin - which can be slightly itchy for some folks. The first few wears, little wool fibers came off on my shirt I was wearing below, but this subsided rather quickly after several wears. Re warranty - I contacted Stormy Kromer and they said, 'We do our best to produce quality products and as such will stand behind our merchandise if there happen to be any flaws in manufacturing or materials but they do not have a registerable lifetime warranty.' I guess take that for what you will, but I would assume that if a stitch came lose or a pocket released they would conduct the necessary repairs... maybe for life? Stormy Kromer is a great American brand and this coat is a fine example of their work.

Excellent Product and Excellent Service
This is my second Mackinaw wool coat and I love it. My last one is about 25 years old and I still wear it regularly. I wanted a new one and the Northstar plaid design was an interesting design. I received it a few days ago and it is beautiful and functional. Very well made and more high end indeed. The wool is quite soft - to my surprise - since Mackinaw wool can be a bit scratchy. I highly recommend this coat. The manufacturer says they are sized generously and they mean it. I knew this and ordered the size that would make this a little big because I prefer sleeves that do not creep up when I reach for things and I expect to layer. Just know that these coats run a little large. Hats off to Outland USA who supplied the coat. Great communications, prompt shipping and delivery - thank you.

High Quality Wool Classic
Pros: Looks excellent and classic. Warm for windy winter days. Great company and outstanding quality coat. Collar stands up to block wind from neck. Add a scarf for very cold days. Love this coat!Cons: lower pockets are for hands only but they don’t hold keys well. Chest pockets are in awkward position to access and are shallow. Flap pockets with buttons are nice. No interior pockets which would be nice.

Excellent Quality
Top notch material. Thick, dense wool that looks and feels great. Casual style with a touch of class that fits in both in the field and on the town. Cut sufficiently to be able to wear a sweater or flannel under it. It's a well made traditionally styled jacket that will serve for years to come.

Amazing
This coat is amazing. While it is pricey worth every penny spent. We have harsh winters and this keeps you warm.

A classic looking workhorse; but there's room for improvement
The coat fit as expected and the wool is both warm and durable - I used this coat to tap maple trees in 3-5⁰f without so much as snag or a loose fiber. A button-in liner would be a welcome improvement (I'm contemplating ordering a SK wool vest as a companion piece to layer with this coat). Another improvement would be to lower the hand-warmer pockets to be more accessible; or alternatively, adding flaps and deepening the pocket to be a secure breast pocket. Otherwise, I love it - I own two and I'm happy with both

Great product runs large
Great quality, made in Michigan. needed an intermediate coat to go with my Filson double. It does run BIG. Originally ordered a large and it was MASSIVE, had to return it to get a medium which fits me like a large normally does. Ordered one for my brother, but they don't make a small so he has a medium. Wish they made a small since they run so large.

well made--weird pockets, no liner
This coat is for men who want to ~look~ like they spend time splitting firewood and working on a farm. It's not for men who split firewood and work on a farm.I live in a region with cold and snowy winters and am active outside in cold weather on a regular basis either for winter sports or doing chores. I liked the idea of this coat--an old school wool top layer that I could wear with various combinations of base layers to suit the conditions. However, the pocket layout is useless compared to many other coats I have. Similarly, I thought the lack of a liner (and therefore an inner pocket) wasn't a big deal, since it seems like this coat would be worn with many layers anyway, but actually it's a major drawback in practice. Unfortunately, instead of this being a go-to winter coat, it's just going to take up closet space.I like the construction and materials, but the design is bad.
