CARL Professional Rotary Paper Trimmer 18 inch- THE BEST
For years, I had an Exacto Rotary Paper Cutter/Trimmer and I loved it. The blade stayed sharp, the "line" for cutting was STRAIGHT as an arrow but eventually (after 15 years of fairly heavy use), I had to replace it. So, of course, I bought another Exacto Rotary however the style I'd had previously was not available. I bought the closest I could and I hated it the very first cut I attempted. You had to "re-roll" the blade up and down Several times to get a clean cut AND the "line-up" was always off a hair. Did I mention how much I hated it? Anyway, a month ago I got thoroughly disgusted and threw it in the trash. I ordered this Carl Professional Rotary Trimmer and "downsized" to an 18" (which is more than plenty for the crafts I do). At the First Cut; I knew I loved this!! I told my husband how happy I was; literally, I was nearly jumping up and down after the frustration from my previous cutter/trimmer. The "line-up" is perfectly straight. One slice and it's a done deal. Due to it's smaller size (width wise), it is easier to store for more handy access in my office. One of the Smartest touches is the company put a big sticker on the underside of the Trimmer with a listing of any replacement parts, their numbers, and their website address. The instruction booklet that comes with it has their email address, as well. I taped that to the bottom, as well. There is also a compartment under the trimmer to store an extra blade (up to 3) in. Very thoughtful! Quality product. I highly recommend this model of the Carl Trimmer.

Using for 2.5 years and it still cuts beautifully...
I researched this paper cutter before buying it so when i saw a used in like new condition one popped up for sale i immediately bought it. 2.5 yrs later the blade is still sharp and it's still going strong. It cuts clean and neat. I use it to cut regular copy paper, cardstock and butcher paper. I wish it had measurements pass the cut line to accurately cut paper and cardstock of different width. I love the light weight, smooth finish metal body and the numbers and words are written in blue and white color that is beautiful and easy to read or find among other crafting items. Blade cuts clean, no jagged edges. I recommend this product.

Great Trimmer, very accurate if you line it up!
Best trimmer I have used, definitely worth the price. If you take your time to line up the paper to the bottom and middle scales and ensure it is even along the bottom it is very accurate. The first couple cuts I tried I didn't hold the paper in place while I pressed down the trimmer blade and it shifted slightly. Now I just put a finger or magnet on the paper to hold it as I press down on the cutter bar and it is very accurate. You can see in the picture I lined up a 5" cut and then measured it afterwards, the ruler printed on the board is accurate and it cuts very accurate and straight (within 1/32" I believe). A very nice bonus is that the blue metal base is magnetic, so if you have a piece of material that tends to curl from coming off a roll you can use magnets to hold it down flat to get a precise cut.

Gets most jobs done
I've been using it lightly for two years (ave. probably 10 slices per week) and am surprised that the blade is already dull. It works pretty well, but you have to bear down hard on anything heavier than office paper or it won't cut through. I use it mainly on office paper and papyrus which is lighter in weight than card stock but perhaps (?) tougher. The plastic guard that helps you hold the paper in place (a good thing) also diminishes your area for holding onto the other end of the paper (a bad thing) -- in other words, you can't cut really small pieces of paper with it because you can't hold them still on the left side. If you don't mind wasting a lot of paper, you can work around that, but I dislike the waste. It's a good tool apart from that issue, but it needs a better blade.

I LOVE it!!
Earlier this year I bought a larger model (26” cutting length), and I was really happy with it. I got that one to cut down large sheets of watercolor paper because it’s so much more economical to buy the 22 X 30” size. But, there are some smaller things I wanted to cut, and I wasn’t that happy with the Fiskars that are basically a straight blade that gets dull fairly quickly. It’s also hard to keep the paper in place unless you’re very careful. People give great reviews to that style because it’s inexpensive, but I wanted something with a little heft and a reliable cut. This is it! I saw some of the reviews that weren’t that great, but I think their needs/expectations were different from mine. I don’t care about cutting a stack of paper. I only cut one sheet at a time, and all I care about is accuracy. Along with that, it’s a great size. I like that I can get replacement blades and cutting mats. The storage is a plus, too. I’ll use this one mostly for creating greeting cards, and watercolor swatch cards. I’m so happy!!!

Clean and precise cutting
I purchased this to use for cutting vinyl window film. I needed to cut 9 precisely measured rectangles for the window panes. The rolls of window film were 18 inches wide. This roller cutter exceeded expectations for this project. I’m sure it will come in handy for other projects in the future as well.

Cuts straight. Not the best mechanics
Cuts straight. It also has marks on it from the blade already being used and little paper slivers in the blade carriage, you can tell it's not brand new. You have to hold down the entire left and right of the rail bar to make sure it accurately cuts where you want so you can see where the blade is probably going to cut it because you cannot see accurately without pressing down the rail bar first. (very annoying) It's almost like you need 3 hands, lol! You also will have to teach yourself where the "real" cut line is because it is not where it's supposed to be right on the outer edge of the blue rail bar where it's suggested it cuts directly next to. Leave a sliver of space next to the rail bar showing the design you want to cut directly next to if you want an accurate cut. At this point, I might keep it as I am tired of experiencing the same thing over and over with every paper trimmer I purchase on Amazon. I am getting so tired of buying paper trimmers on Amazon just to return them because they were used, don't cut straight or are low quality. All I need is for something to accurately cut a straight line clean through for sublimation tumbler wraps I make and post on social media, but if I were to buy this for oragami, card making or other paper crafting I would not consider keeping it. I cannot stress enough that me receiving a used unit is probably not the fault of the brand or any of the brands of these paper trimmers I and others are getting, but probably the fault of Amazon and shipping out things that were returned prior. Many of these brands I have bought brand new from their website or in a craft store and the quality is never this poor and you aren't going to get something used right out of the box. The only reason I chose Amazon for it was because of a gift card I had.

un peu difficile au début
je vous conseille de vous pratiquer sur du papier avant de couper. Une fois que vous avez compris le fonctionnement - pression, règle, tout va bien et elle coupe très droit.

Great tool, but with signs of use
The box was previously opened - torn in a couple of places. Cutting mat had cutting marks on it, as if someone has already used the tool. I've tried on a couple of sheets of office paper - worked great, no complaints. BUT. This item was intended as a gift, so the whole situation was quite awkward. So only 4 stars, not for the item itself, but for the used condition.

Product description was confusing
I received the trimmer as promised, thank you. However, I was disappointed that although the selling data reflected the inclusion of 10 blades, there were none and there was only a repository capable of holding only three blades. With this RT-200 we are replacing an older DC-200 from RotaTrim which are remarkably alike even the numbers and description of the blades are the same. The DC-200 has a repository capable of storing 12 blades, so you can see that my recent purchase is not as functional, which is disappointing. I now want to provide the blades identified on your outer box, can you advise if you sell them as an accessory to the RT-200. Regards, Richard

Easy to use
I really like the quality of this trimer. It was easy to use and accuate. Its sizing is good and cutting is on point with the sharp blade. I like how there are measurements on the base to enable accuracy to occur.

No good at all. Avoid
After paying for it, delivery was change from 3 days to one month. This is of not use to me. I asked for a retun and I have to pay for the postage what I realised is going yo be very expensive as digging into it I realised that the item is posted from the US! Please avoid this product and company if UK based
