Magnum Deer Sleigh'r Game Sled Review: Perfect Solution - I purchased the “Deer Sleigh’r” product for the specific application of transporting my large ice fishing shack (Eskimo Outbreak 650XD). I portage all of my gear to and from remote destinations on foot. Often several miles by snowshoe or ski. With all the equipment filling my sled, I needed a solution to move the ice house in any weather. The “Deer Sleigh’r” was the perfect solution. Lightweight, durable, compact and easy to use, this product glides over the snow and ice effortlessly. I did make a couple modifications: 1.) I lengthened the retention ropes to 26’. This helped me ensure I can lash down anything I need. 2.) A heavy duty pull loop at the front, attached to a stronger cross-bar bolster. This ensures the stress from the pull rope is not focused on the front grommet, but spread along the entire front face. 3.) Pulling harness that can be pulled by a single person, or attached to the expedition sled and pulled in-line. 4.) A foam cradle to raise the rear of the ice house, lifting it, so it’s not dragging on the ice as the “Deer Sleigh’r” is about 2’ too short (respectively). All-in-all, this product was almost perfect for my application. My only wish is that it could have been about 2’ longer. If you are looking for a lightweight, compact, durable solution like my application, look no further. One man can easily drag an animal that weighs more than he does over nearly any terrain. However, last year I also had the use of an ATV during deer season and I combined the two. Although this sled is made from VERY heavy plastic, it is not designed to be dragged over rough rocky roads at any speed. I put a number of rips in my old one dragging out a 182 pound buck, once I'd reached a decent logging road and could speed up. (I immediately ordered a new one to replace it.) Worth it!!
Worth every penny. I had this in the back of my truck(in a drawer) for a few years before I used it. This fall I dropped a deer probably 1/4 mile from the truck. Made quick work of getting it out. Unfortunately by the time I made it to the truck the bottom was destroyed but I really don’t blame it on the sled. It was a large deer, in the mountains, being drug over some rocky terrain. It did what it was supposed to. As soon as I got home I ordered another.

Works well but it's heavy
I was expecting a lightweight piece of plastic but this is heavy duty and works well once you get it where you are going. I guess everything has its tradeoffs and this is no exception. It is large enough to easily get a deer wrapped up to make it easier to drag out of the woods but I wouldn't want to carry this around the woods with me all day. Like I said, tradeoffs. It is heavy but it is heavy duty and sturdy. I recommend it but you might want to leave it in the vehicle until you are ready to drag something out of the woods other than yourself!

cracks
The drag definitely helped with the retrieval of the deer even through uphill sagebrush thick terrain. Much better than quartering it out for multiple trips and it kept the deer relatively clean. used with a pull harness to again make life easier. Once to the vehicle ( a little over a mile) and unloaded the deer, realized there are multiple cracks in the material lengthwise that had begun to snag along the way and start taking little chunks out of the sleigh. While i am happy overall with the sleigh's first drag I am leery of trusting it for additional uses in the future. for the price its did just as good a job if not better as other sleds that are 3x the price. but those sleds lasted multiple seasons. However I feel as if the sleighr is a 1x use option which can get expensive. I will be ordering another deer sleigh and seeing if through a second time has the same outcome. I would recommend this product especially to anyone that has to tote their gear in themselves and does not have a 2nd set of hands to help. Product holds its roll shape stubbornly at first, had to use two rocks to hold it open while i slid the deer onto it. It was 55 degrees that day so the coiling was material not due to it being cold.

It makes the drag a lot easier
It will make getting your deer out a lot easier most of the time it’s not reusable though I wear holes through them of course I drag them a very long way over rocky terrain

Amazing and will last if you use it correctly
I have been using this to pull deer out for over 5 years now. The secret is to strap the deer in tight and only use it on ice and snow otherwise you will wear holes in no time at all!! Think of this as a taboggan for deer and you won't ever regret it. I did modify my sled by replacing all the ropes provided. I use paracord for strapping the deer in and a much thicker rope tied to a board that spans the front inside of the sled (this keeps the pressure off the grommet). I also use a water ski handle tied to the thick rope for pulling. Just in case you are wondering, if there is no snow or even frost, I typically go with a traditional cart.

Held up Great
I dragged a very big deer 2 miles over trees, rocks and other debris and it did flawlessly. An excellent product. It's all in the way you position and "wrap up" the deer.

The sled is heavy. The design is poor. It could be way better designed to fold around the animal. It's basically a rectangle with a few lace holes in it. The ropes that come with it are of poor quality and will cut your hands. It fjoes not come with any kind of fabric carrying case or even web strap to secure tightly in its carrying position. No strap for pulling. I would not recommend it for anyone who likes to pack light and goes off into the bush more than a 1/2 mile. Very disappointing. I had a Dead Sled and it was far superior. Don't waste your money on this one.
