Blades came of my 3 point Howesbrush hawg for my tractor. After trying to put the old nut on I realized both the shaft and nut where rusted to the point half the threads on each where gone. Figured I'd have to buy a new brush hawg with the shaft being like that. Decided it would be at least worth trying a new 10.00 nut to see if it would grab and tighten. To my surprise I was able to get it to tighten up nicely where before the old nut would just slip. I know the rusted shaft is still going to be the weak link if it was to fail but as of now I think its fixed.
