Product Description With this Ultimate Stratego game, you take command in 3 great new battles. Control generals and marshals, spies, cavalry, cannons and soldiers—only you know the identity of your pieces before the battle begins. As armies clash, pieces are revealed and only the strong survive. Includes multiple ways to play: 4-player alliance game, 2-player fast-paced lightning game and 2-player campaign game. For 2 or 4 players. .com Stratego, the classic strategy game that plays like a combination of Risk and chess, is back and better than ever. The gimmick that makes this board game special is that your opponent doesn't know what your piece is until you engage, so a lowly soldier might turn out to be a general, a spy, a corporal, or a swift-moving scout. This newest edition comes with additional cavalry, long-range cannon pieces, and a brand new variant that allows four players to play an "Alliance Game" in which the strategy is to "unite" your flag with your partner on the field of battle. The stylish pieces and sturdy board are well made, and you can learn any of the three variants of Stratego in about 10 minutes. --John Longenbaugh

Love It!
This was exactly what I was hoping it would be.The rules are different than the traditional game I am accustomed to playing, but that is to be expected since it is a different version. The four player version is fun as well! Worth every penny!

With a little Elmer's Glue...this'll be a great game.
As the other reviewers have stated, this version of the classic game contains expanded rules that will accomodate 4 players in addition to some other interesting 2-player scenarios. The games comes with a two-sided playing board to allow for its alternate rules. However, where this game falls short is in its construction. The playing pieces are nothing more than plastic moldings that house carboard insertsdepicting the rank of the piece. After a short time, the cardboard inserts begin to drop out of their casings. I find myself reinserting the pieces more than I do setting up the game itself. Major pain -- and without question a game-breaker for me. I now play the original version with the painted pieces as this version collects dust on my shelf.

Fun for a family!
We didn't follow the rules included in this game pertaining to four players. We just used traditional Stratego rules except, during a battle between two players' pieces, we didn't announce to the other two players what each piece was (excluding when a flag was captured).

Not nearly as good as classic stratego
My son has been asking for the original game having played it at friends houses and wants to get rid of this version. There's many flaws here compared to the original game...1 There's only 20 pieces per side but the 2 player board is the same size, leading to a lot of awkward open space2 The pieces are very hard to see from any angle but straight behind them, meaning you have to elevate the board to play the game3 The cards fall out of the slots in the pieces- we have lost a few and are frequently having to reassemble piecesAs I'm now being forced to go back and buy the original game, I figured I'd post this review as a warning to others.

NOT THE REAL STRATEGO
When I first found this item on Amazon.com, I was ecstatic. Four-Player Stratego was a dream. I opened the box and found out that the pieces, rules, and board are all different from the original Stratego. This game is nothing like Stratego so stay away.

The only thing I don't like about this game is that games take about 3 hours. It's hard for me to find 3 other friends that will commit that amount of time to play 1 game.
