Caframo Fairview 9303, 12-Volt Windshield Defogger, Black, 6.75” x 2.5” x 4.0”

This defogger works decently well at keeping my windshield clear as my car's built in defogger is broken. There is nothing else on the market like this (i did a lot of research) that wont blow the circuit in my car.The cons are that it makes a racket, has no good way of attaching to the windshield or dashboard (despite coming with a suction cup because it has no way of attaching to the defogger). Additionally after a few months of use it starting getting too hot and sounding different, so I got another one.I would have given it three stars but gave it 4 because it's the only thing on the market that can do what it doesThis is the first Amazon review I have ever written. The only reason I am writing this is because this defogger is the only thing keeping my car going..Update: After the second one died after a few months I am changing my rating to 3 stars

I am a fulltime mailman and safety is my number one priority. I drive an older but the safest delivery vehicle I can find. My vehicle's fan became weak. So for fall/winter 2018 I needed to find some kind of heater that would plug into the cigarette lighter and make my commute to work safer, as well as on my route. I discovered 12 volt windshield defogger/defrosters. There were so many different ones to choose from. The customer reviews to this kind of product were never clearcut. About half of the purchasers loved them and half hated them. My experience in 2017 confirmed this: only one of the two I bought provided heat. Then in fall 2018 I found the Caframo Fairview 9303 model. The Caframo is different from the others in that it is 100 watts, while other brands are 150 or 200 watts, and the Caframo has a unique nonintrusive size that works perfectly with the dashboard curvature to place it closer to the windshield. My Caframo sits perfectly without any need for fastening, with much more stability than other brands. The lesser wattage reduces the blown fuses that reviewers of other brands complain about, but yet delivers as much or even more heat than the other types I have used. The price is $10 or more than other types and worth it! When I have an icy windshield, I start my engine, use my ice scraper, and turn on my Caframo. About 15 minutes later, the drivers side of the front windshield is free of fog. Because the Caframo is only 100 watts, you may be able to buy the simplest cigarette lighter splitter for about $3 and a second Caframo to defog the passenger side as well!11/18/2018 guest writer

As far as I can tell, this is the slimmest heater in its class on Amazon. Defrosted the wheelhouse of my boat beautifully, and surprisingly gave me a little heat, which I really did not expect. Don’t buy it if you need the suction cup function, as the item comes with a separate suction cup that I guess you’re supposed to glue to it somewhere? Even if you could get it on there it’s cheap warped tough rubber, and it wouldn’t stay on your windshield, even if it was not holding up a heater. Was not a problem for me because I just wanted to screw it to the wood frame around the window anyways.

Fan volume/speed pretty lethargic. This definitely works. Have a bad heater core and tried this as a band aid because of $1000+ to tear out dash to fix heater core. Works best at defrosting window when warmer than 20 degrees. Gets louder the longer you run it. Not bad when you first turn on but after a 45 min. commute is kind of annoying. Works about as expected, wish it had faster fan speed.

Nice concept, but depending on the articulation angle, the fan hits the housing. It also doesn’t have enough air flow to manage the heavy dampness in the marine environment. Maybe my expectations were too high.

It worked on the 1st day, then the power/fan speed dropped to hardly anything, fogging up the boat's windshield. Did not return it due to the time from purchase to install and use. Very disappointed and next season we will have to buy another product. 2 stars because the 1st day it worked well.

It does put out heat, just not too much air movement. The fan isn't really loud but was poorly balanced so it shakes like crazy. I used it for a day.

It heats our expedition in 44 degree weather. Not as hot as a working car heater but enough to be comfortable. The 4 stars are because it's quite loud and it doesn't have a clip option or an on/off switch.

Poor quality product. Very poor air fan. Only worked moderately in horizontal orientation, and in vertical orientation it produced more noise than warm air. Disappointed, since it claims to be a Caframo product and these are usually reliable.

Worst product ever. Purchased 2 to replace 20 year old units that were near retirement. Look very similar but one failed out of the box and the other within 6 months. Put the 20 year old units back on and thew these in the ocean where they belong. Don't be fooled because they look the same, the are not.

Had to remove the motor and just use the heater element. When mounted on the dash the motor had a vibration that just became a very loud noise!!!!!!!! So we just removed the motor and now it works ok.
