Double vinyl LP pressing. Witchcult Today is the sixth album by British doom metal band Electric Wizard. It was recorded entirely on vintage 1970's equipment at Toe Rag Studios and was originally released in November 2007. The sound of Witchcult Today was less harsh than preceeding albums and Jus Osborn's vocals are much more prominent. The band's fascination with horror movies and writers continues here with "Satanic Rites of Drugula", a reference to the Hammer Studios horror film The Satanic Rites of Dracula, and "Dunwich", a reference to H.P. Lovecraft's short story The Dunwich Horror; also "Black Magic Rituals & Perversions (I. Frisson Des Vampires II. Zora)" makes reference to Jean Rollin film Le Frisson des Vampires (Shiver of the Vampires) and to Italian comic book character Zora the Vampire. Review: The Wizard! - Does what it says. Review: Our witchcult grows. - I am so in love with this record. Every song is solid. "Chosen Few" is a crowd favorite.

Needs one break in spin on the vinyl.
Go Witchcult! Command much money! I figured this was the way to start out a vinyl collection given the vintage sound and Jus Oborn's insistence that records sound better. And it's my favorite of their albums since the new lineup. Cd's still seem more powerful, but I'll have to keep listening to see if the subtleties are there. How does Amazon know I bought this through Barnes & Noble? I imagine a bunch of cold, curious aliens wiping us all out and spinning this as their introduction to earth and becoming necromantic slaves.

Stoner Doom Goodness
Kinda sounds like it was recorded during the NWOBHM era, right alongside Celtic Frost and Venom. Heavy as a cinderblock dropped on your foot. Best listened to in a dense cloud of weedsmoke.
