YoLinkSmart Home Starter Kit: Security & Leak Detection Kit (Hub, Door Sensor, Water Leak Sensor, Plug Mini Compatible with Alexa, LoRa-Powered 1/4 Mile Range

Since this package was inexpensive, I bought it to try out smart home system. The package arrived a day earlier. It included a YoLink hub, a plug mini switch, a door sensor, and a water leak sensor. All parts seemed well constructed.The installation was quite straight forward and all parts worked properly as described. The yolink app interface on my phone was quite clean and it showed the statuses of all three sensors on one screen. The hub was the communication central for all sensors. The plug mini worked as a remote-controlled power switch that I could control on/off through a slide switch on my phone screen. The plug does have a manual on/off pushbutton switch on the side. The door sensor worked just like a regular magnetic alarm switch that I could monitor its status on my phone. The water leak sensor was a square pad that had electrical terminals on both sides that I could use to detect water leak from the ceiling or on the floor. The leak sensor construction seems waterproof but I have not tested it.I ran into installation problems at beginning because I made two mistakes as a result of not reading the hub installation guide careful enough. First I installed the wrong app from the google play store. There were two apps in the store: the yosmart app and the yolink app. I searched "yosmart" and installed the yosmart app, and off course it didn't work. After that I searched "yolink" and installed the yolink app, the hub installation was very easy. I do recommend to read and follow the hub user guide first before installation. After the mini plug installation, I could install the other two sensors without reading the user guides. Second I encountered wireless connection problem because my phone selected the 5GHz wifi frequency band automatically. After I set my phone to use the 2.4GHz band manually, the connection worked with no problem.I did ran into two minor problems that I was sure if they were caused by my side. I downloaded the user guides in pdf using my mobile phone easily. However, for reason unknown I was not able to download the pdf guides by typing in the address links of the user guides on my windows 10 PC, I got "emply file" error message. I had no problem following the same steps with android phone. I ended up transferring the pdf user guides from my phone to my PC as I preferred to read them on bigger screen. Another problem concerned with the user guide QR-code for the water leak sensor. My phone camera could not decode the QR code, both the one printed on the packaging box and the one on the quick start guide included with the sensor. I ended up typing in the user guide address link directly on my phone as the link was the same as the other sensors, except the sensor model number in the link. I had no problem with the user guide QR codes for the hub, the plug, and the door sensor. I could read all the user guides on PC by searching with the key "user guide"; however, they were shown in the smaller screen ebook format, and not the in pdf format that I could read with full screen.Since I have not used the system long enough, I could not comment on the reliability of the system at this time. For now I give it 5 stars as everything worked as stated; I do not think the minor problems I encountered are sufficient to knock one star off. I will update in the future as necessary.

I was wanting a door sensor for my outbuilding to know when the door was open and also have an door alarm. after looking into options I ended up with an door alarm and this Yo-link door sensor. I originally was only after the door alarm, but after looking I decided to get this starter kit. I placed the water sensor down by my sump pump. I of course tested it with a sink and worked great. Plugged in a lamp in the livingroom which also worked great. The door sensor was quite a distance away and also on a metal building so I was not 100% sure it would be able to be read from the Hub, but it did and after playing with setting to make my phone chime different from the normal, I tested it and worked pretty well. Had a few times where I was in the same enclosed metal building where I did not get the chime, but pretty certain my wifi was the issue being a good distance from my wife and inside the metal building. if I set my phone to not use wifi and use Data it seemed to act like I expected. Still in the trial phase but so far seems to signal me when the door has been opened, and I set it to let me know if the door stays open to let me know this as well, since the door is not visible from the house.I shortly after decided to try the motion detector. This seemed to be a delay so it took a bit for me to actually feel it worked correctly. I was just turning it on and was not getting notification it was working, but once I let it sit for a few min. it picked up motion and did register motion. I tried messing with this to turn on my light with the mini plug. which worked until I tried to set it up to do it between certain time. I have not been able to get this function to work the way I think it should. I had set it to only work between 8:00pm till 1:00am. but it seems to not apply and works constantly, so for now until I can dig deeper into why i just turned that off. Hope to figure that out, but in reality I was just playing with options at this point.Setting these up could not be simpler. once you have the app on your phone use the barcode reader on the app and pretty much follow instructions and it will pair it to the hub.Over all very happy with the product, we will see if it continues with out problem.

I mainly bought this product for the door sensor, to solve a specific issue. We bought a house with a relatively long driveway and I quickly got fed up of walking down to the mailbox only to find nothing had been delivered. What I needed was a sensor that would tell me when the mailbox was opened and would work over a range of about 100-feet.Since installing the sensor, I have been very happy with it's performance. I have even integrated it with Alex so that she says "you've got mail" whenever it is activated!I ended up buying this pack in particular because I thought it represented good value. I ahevn't used the water sensor yet (I may put it in the garage in the winter in case we have any leaks), but we have started using the plug which also integrates well with Alexa. No more getting up to turn on that pesky lamp.All-in-all, I have been impressed with the product and would definitely recommend it.

I have purchased the Yolink starter kit, 3 of the power monitoring plugs and 3 temp and humidity sensors. The main purpose was to monitor refrigerators and deep freeze while away from home. With the sensors I have the peace of mind that not only are the freezers cold but are still drawing current so the will stay that way. The only problem I have had was dead batteries on the water leak sensor. A quick and polite conversation with their help line directed me to instructions for replacement and they are going to reimburse cost. Set up is easy. Plug hub into power and ethernet to router, scan QR codes and away you go. Alexa integration works to turn devices on and off, see if doors are closed and ask for freezer temps. Great product.
