Great Guide to AZ. and NM Ghost towns
Good and accurate information on Arizona and New Mexico ghost and almost ghost towns. If you like to visit ghost towns you get accurate directions and an idea of what remains to be seen. If you read it just for the history or use it as a guide book for to explore these towns of the past it is a worthwhile and informative book.

Great source of information for history buffs
Great source of information for history buffs, like me. The only complaint that I would have is that I wish it were longer! I even found out information about the small town that I live in that I never knew before. Nicely written and great photos!

Makes you want to go explore the Southwest
I had the chance to read Ghost Towns of the Southwest: Your Guide to the Historic Mining Camps & Ghost Towns of Arizona and New Mexico by Jim Hinckley and Kerrick James recently.I've always loved the Old West and Ghost Towns. As a kid growing up in California, I was able to visit a few of the famous ones with my mom such as Tombstone, Arizona. The book is organized is to regions of Arizona and New Mexico with several sites to visit in each region. This make it perfect for roadtrips as you can base yourself in the larger area and then drive to the various sites during the day, or camp out.Jim Hinckley does a great job of describing the history of the site along with information about what remains and the accessibility of the sites. A lot of these places are way in the middle of nowhere, so heed his warnings about high-clearance cars or 4x4's to reach them.Jim also wrote Route 66 Backroads and Backroads of Arizona which are Bibles for planning roadtrips out west. He also writes a blog about life on Route 66 in Kingman which is worth a read.Kerrick James photographic work has been seen magazines such as Arizona Highways and National Geographic Adventurer. He also conducts classes on photography, which from his work in this book I wish I could attend. Kerrick has a great way of showing the desolation of the abandoned mining sites and ghost towns which make the book worthwhile just as a photo essay. His website [...] includes many great shots and also links to his classes.Ghost Towns of the Southwest is a great book from Voyaguer Press and will make you want to make a Southwest road trip soon.

"Voyage, Voyage" ...
