Lawrence of Arabia [Blu-ray] [2019] [Region Free]

You will immediately detect an air of reverence in my little film on YouTube 'Unveiling the Great Lawrence of Arabia'. This was not due to my paying $55 for an old film but it is one of my three best movies I have seen in my life. And now one of them has the 4K treatment, I don’t have 4K facilities but often the 2K blu ray is improved and it all comes in a steelbook enclosure.First the price was not such a shock as I recently secured a refund on The Mandalorian steelbook just about the same price. The Mandalorian was alright to watch but I could not imagine myself viewing that first series again. There are other comparisons apart from price. Lawrence of Arabia is 3h 46m whilst the Star Wars spin-off is total 3h 20m. I will watch tonight to see if the Intermission is included for Lawrence. Ice creams ready.As the temperature drops on our digital thermometers Lawrence lights a match on our disposable culture. Where these days every character is either good or rancid, here we witness men under fire reacting to events. Lawrence is neither good or bad. Neither set in his way or a wandering soul. He could be the definition of the unreliable narrator except for one thing. They used to call it integrity. A broader view.Aloneness.

The item arrived with a damaged hinge on the top part of the steel book, it’s a real pain that Amazon are not paying attention with their packaging, some items are fragile and Amazon must ensure they package these items better than they currently do.It’s a fantastic looking steelbook but it looks like this item is constantly out of stock so I am now left with a decision on whether to keep it or send it back and try my luck at getting a replacement if it comes back into stock, thank you Sony for just not doing enough to keep this film in stock and in stock in the UK, this is imported from the USA and having to import is ridiculous for one of the greatest films of all time.So in summary, it’s a great film, very good UHD 4k release but it’s never in stock long which means the scalpers on eBay get to charge hundreds of pounds if you want it when it goes out of stock.

Lawrence of Arabia [Blu-ray] [2019] the musical accompaniment and scenery are spectacular.

Often hailed as one of the greatest films of all time, this remains a marvel of cinema, the likes of which we seem unlikely to witness again. In modern film making, led by the likes of James Cameron and Peter Jackson, the term 'epic' has become a byword for expensive CGI. Yet the sum of the work of those two doesn't cut a scratch on this real epic. Instead of thinking about this in terms of its financial expense this film is immensely rich in that matters most in cinema: artistic value. With that said, the film is not without its flaws. Like some of Lean's other work (and here, I am thinking of the ending of The Bridge On The River Kwai) some historical accuracy has been sacrificed to make way for good film-making. Some aspects of the film haven't aged welll; in particular some of the racist language used and the use of 'blacking up' of actors such as Alec Guiness to portray them as Arabs, which would be unthinkable in today's cinema.The scope of the film is breathtaking and Peter O' Toole's performance is brilliant, all the more so when you consider it was his first major film role. At three and a half hours, it's not a film you would generally choose to watch on a whim on a Saturday night. The politics of the time plays an important role in the film, and it is well worth investing a little time looking at this in order to understand the context in which the film is set. David Lean was not afraid of allowing the film to take place, rather than forcing it along as could be tempting. There is no greater example of this than one of the early scenes, when Omar Sharif makes his appearance by coming very slowly over the horizon and across a desert plain.This is a great lesson in filmmaking and a classic that needs to be seen.

It was always out of stock, so I put it on my wish list, which did the trick. Lovely bit rate, looks just wonderful. It was suppose to arrive after Christmas but arrived before. A lovely Christmas present.

Great film, even though its a long film . Superb acting , great narative , historically thought provoking as where we are today with this subject matter. I would highly recommend.

De la peli nada que decir… (quien no la conozca que la vea, cualesquiera su edad).Calidad Blu-ray que no está mal (tengo DvD original y lo mejora algo) pero evidentemente no calidad de los actuales, es una versión restaurada de un film de más de 50 años.

Sublime movie. A true classic. It looks fantastic in 4k.

アカデミーを作品賞を始めとする7部門を受賞した大作。スクリーンの大画面でみたい映画。DVD、BS-Hivisionの録画でよく見てました。米版4K-UHDが予約時に25＄ぐらいだったのに、みるみる高くなり100＄以上の高値となったのであきらめてブルーレイを購入。1400￥はお買い得です。BS-4Kと比べると、若干輪郭にエッジが乗るシーンがあるが、大変綺麗で音も良いです。
