Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White Fine Art Paint, 1.0 oz, White, 1 Jar

This was purchased on the recommendation of my watercolor art teacher. Definitely compatible with watercolors. I’ve primarily used it for the white highlights when painting eyes but I can see where it could have many other uses as well depending on the project. It’s water soluble so easy clean up. Use with regular watercolor brushes. It’s a very bright white, brighter than the Arches paper I use. There is no odor. It’s a nice sized jar and you won’t use much so it’s a good value. One thing to note is that, once it’s been opened, it can develop a skin on the surface, so it’s a good idea to store it upside down.

Nice jar of it, small but goes along way. Great to use with watercolor painting. Really bright white. Am happy I got it, would buy again. I know it will last along time.

Or before you freak out and throw it away or return it. Keep reading to learn more...First, this water-based and thus not permanent. According to their website, "Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleedproof White is an opaque watercolor for covering dye colors, markers, and designer colors." It is bleed proof when used correctly. If using to cover up watercolor that has bleed under tape or that you accidentally put in a space you meant to leave white it will not bleed when placed on top of dried watercolor paint/paper. However, you cannot put watercolor over the top of it. It is not permanent. It will mix into your watercolor paints as a previous reviewer learned the hard way. It is extremely opaque and good for covering up DRIED watercolor, dye or ink.Second, if your product arrives gloopy or dries out quickly; no fear! It is not ruined. This is a water-based product and as such you can add an itty bitty bit of distilled water to the jar and mixed it up to get the consistency you desire.Inky Nib Calligraphy has a blog post and YouTube video about it. She doesn't use distilled, but I would if mixing it in the jar. Especially, because I don’t go through this quickly. I don't want mold. If you don't have distilled water on hand simply take a tiny amount out using a clean implement of your choosing and mixed elsewhere. I used a toothpick and called it a Q-tip in the video! First of all it's truly White, Completely opaque. You can use it straight from the bottle or water it down a little bit as needed. It seems to mix well with colors if you're looking for a more pastel look. If you make a mistake this will totally blend in with your paper and completely hide it. I also love the fact that you only need to use a very small amount.

One pot of this bleed proof white lasts a really long time and it is perfectly opaque. I use mine in almost every watercolor painting I do. My favorite uses are highlights, water ripples, stars and moons, and snow. If you use this sparingly on a painting for even just some highlights, it does wonders in making the painting really pop.Another good use is to mix it with a watercolor paint to create a light colored opaque gauche-like color as well. If I need to paint over something darker in a lighter color, I do this a lot with this bleed proof white. It turns into a creamy matte opaque version of any color, and it sits perfectly on top.Highly recommend this paint!

Excellent product EXCEPT the cap is not airtight. Bought 5 months ago, the paint is now an almost solid block (with some liquid on top) due to evaporation. With the cap on at tight as I can get it, it leaks a little when shaken. I'll buy again, but plan keep the bottle in a ziplock this time.

Works great. It’s thick but adding a little water to it helped make it perfect to use.

I’ve been using it for years, and it’s the perfect white to cover any mishap with your line art. And should you leave the pot opened by mistake, and it dries, a few drops of water, and it’s good to go again. Honestly a great product for artist.

Endlich ein Weiß, das deckt!Man kann auf Tiefschwarz einen weißen Lichtpunkt setzen. Herrlich! Ich hab soviel ausprobiert, aber kein anderes Weiß tat was es sollte. Hier ist der Preis ganz schön hoch, aber gerechtfertigt. Es ist sehr ergiebig.Ich würde Kunsthaar-Pinsel dafür empfehlen, die waschen sich besser aus, als Echthaar.Absolut klare Kaufempfehlung.
