MÄR, Vol. 3

Having rescued Snow, Ginta continues to learn about the world of MÄR Haven as Edward/Alan tells him the story of the man who defeated the Chess Pieces during the previous war. Learning of the situation that the world is in, Ginta and Jack vow to do what they can to defeat the Chess Pieces, but first they must learn about ÄRMs and develop their own magical abilities. Meanwhile the Chess Pieces themselves begin to move, bringing the fires of war to MÄR Haven once again.This third volume of the 'MÄR' manga is another entertaining instalment of the series that includes some interesting backstory before moving on to a brief training arc for Ginta and Jack. The exposition in this volume is quite interesting and covers some of the events of the previous war, as well as revealing some information on ÄRMs and other magical abilities. The action in the volume is also quite good, mostly taking the form of witnessing the Chess Pieces massacre the forces arranged against them but also allows Ginta to show of the fruits of his training as he faces Ian of the Chess Pieces in battle. The artwork for the series remains relatively good and the translation seems reasonable with no obvious issues.The volume also includes a brief extra strip and an afterword by the author.Overall this was a solid, if unspectacular, volume of 'MÄR' that is probably worth a low but solid four stars.

(I seem to be writing these about things that I've bought for other people and not myself!)I got this for my Son in Law, as he is a big fan of this manga. He was having trouble finding it in stores... So I decided to get him it from Amazon.Delivery was fast and the item was exactly as described. Brand new! He was very greatful.Price was fantastic too, just a bit cheaper than what you find in stores, without having to trekk around! Definately avoiding dissapointment!
