When buying the EC2-B will it be the newest batch or the older version with the coil whine issues?

I think it's 50/50... coil whine is not that bad tbh.

Despite this being a older mouse, is it worth getting in 2020?

Having played competitive CSGO for a long time, I'd say yes and I'm still rocking this baby. I have the CSGO edition and haven't had a single issue since I've had it. Really great for LANs as no add on software is required, just works perfectly off the bat with DPI adjustment on the fly. Top quality in my opinion, I don't at all feel the need to go wireless as the mouse is really light which I love.

why is the ec2b 8 pound more expensive than the bigger version(ec1b)? even the special edition csgo ec2b is cheaper than the standard black one

Well, this ceetainly isn't a definite answer, but I'd imagine it's because the EC2-B is suited to more people. The EC1-A is a very large mouse, so smaller mice are better for aiming.

To anyone who has recently bought the ec2-b (and ideally has had the ec2-a), has the coating on the ec2-b still not been changed? (was “sticky”)

There is no coating... it's plastic all over I was reluctant to buy because of this but I was scared it was going to slip from my hand but it is perfect I use claw grip and believe this will work perfectly for finger tip grip.
