This lamp is awesome.It illuminates very far (beam distance : 350m and more) and its hot spot is very homogeneous. Its power mode makes it a major asset because AA batteries can be bought everywhere. If you put rechargeable ones, you will have a brighter beam but the lamp will heat up faster. The only regret is not to have an aluminium lamp body because it is made of composite plastic, so the lamp is light but gives the impression of a cheap product, which is not the case. I like the holster included in the pack and the mode change by wheel on the lamp head. Congrats Fenix !

I earlier became loyal to Fenix as a brand of flashlight and this model doesn't disappoint. Same high quality, super bright, very rugged etc. My only downside is I would saw out the 4 levels of brightness, I feel like they aren't equally spaced. Low is very low, medium I think is about perfect, and bright and ultra both work very well, I would just like to see a level between the low and medium. That is just me very picky though. Still 5 stars because it is overall a great product.

This is my first Fenix flashlight.. I really like it its definitely bright when I need a little light. The only thing is when the flashlight is on the highest level it will turn back down to a low level. The high level will be on for about 5 seconds then just go back to a low level. Overy all a good flashlight.

I am returning the LD41 and keeping the LD42. Reasons: I like the lighter weight. I REALLY like the twist- to- turn- on activation for the multi modes. I did't like the buttons on the end of the LD41. For me this is much better. What you give up is: Strobe. There is no strobe mode. Secondly the max brightness of 1000 lumens (turbo) is not continuous. It cycles off to prevent overheating of the LED. But it lasts more than 8 seconds and then reverts back to the next lower setting which is more than enough for me. It is very bright. The Turbo mode is REALLY bright. The stainless belt clip is perfect. And the fact that it uses 4xAA batteries is the best thing. I had a really hard time finding something that was not rechargeable or used CR123 batteries etc UPDATE: 1/30/2020: I REALLY like this flashlight. I have been using it for home inspections for 5 months. It is super bright. The very best part is that I can pull it out of my right pocket and turn it on WITH ONE HAND. I don't have to push a switch at the end. And I'll bet that the rotary switch is much more reliable than the push button switch. I'd buy again in a heartbeat if I lost it.

Overall a good flashlight. However, the switch mechanism feels cheap and also accidentally activates in your pocket.

I really wanted to like this light. I've been a fan of Fenix for a long time. This is a great size for what I wanted and very bright. I liked the adjustable dial as it was easy to turn on and off. The problem is the top where the dial and bulb are is what you unscrew to install the batteries. If you tighten it too much then the contacts on the top are not in align with the batteries and it will not turn on. You can loosen it to get it to work but then the top will turn when you rotate the dial to turn on or off. Poor design.

Watch out! Only the light head is made of aluminum – the rest is of “high quality” plastic. IMO, not acceptable for a flashlight retailing for $70. Additionally, poor light switch design that controls both on/off and light setting.

This flashlight is so amazing. It uses 4 AA and it brights as others flashlights that use CR123. I personally recommend this product for anyone out there to use it. Thank you for producing such nice flashlight. If any hunters out there like to have best flashlight, this is the one.
