This is a brilliant story and has great illustrations. The book arrived neatly packaged and my son enjoyed the story.

A story that enlightens - must read for all ages!Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2022The story Happy Prince was part of my English curriculum in middle grade and my English teacher did an amazing job teaching it. I still remember her loud and clear voice echoing through the class room as she walked us through the brave but poignant tale of the Happy Prince.The impact must have been great, because some 20 years later, I chose to purchase that book and select it for the short story theme for a children’s book club that I facilitate.Happy Prince is a must read for children of all ages and it is not just for children. It’s for everyone and much needed read in the current times. What I like about the story is that how the author embodies compassion and kindness (Happy Prince), loyalty and friendship (The Swallow), hypocrisy and selfishness (Mayor and his council), social class discrimination & injustice (The seamstress, match girl, playwright) through different characters. This is the best book to introduce children to use of symbols and motifs in a story. Happy Prince’s lead heart lives on to pass the message that love is and will always be immortal and is indestructible. I doubt if there is a better way to pass that message through a book to young readers.This story to stir a lot of thoughts in all minds alike and is a story that will stay with you (just like it did for me). The story falls into the category of satire and is another enlightenment for our young readers. This was also the book that introduced the word “irony” to me and I learnt how that is used effectively in literature.Happy prince falls into a realm of a fairy tale but it is reality woven into fiction and is an enjoyable read. It is not your typical “happily ever after” fairy tale and will stand out to young readers as a whole different reading experience while showing them the art of “indirect” story-telling and instilling a strong message.You won’t be disappointed in this book.

No one should rewrite the great words of Oscar Wilde. I had bought copies for all my family and returned them all. Didn't realize that this was an adaptation of the original story I read and loved so long ago. Will eventually buy copies of the original. Couldn't see why the art won awards.

Not the famous much-loved classic Oscar Wilde version of this story.

Just like The Little Prince, this classic is heart rending, joyous, and life changing all at the same time as being simple and child like. What a crime that the author’s personal life so overshadowed his genius. It was a crime then a d it’s a crime now. This is sheer genius disguised as a lovely little children’s story. And just like his brother Prince from France, an example to us all that it’s only what’s in our hearts that matter.
