Supurb quality and design
I have bought alligator clip leads from several companies over years and generally find them to have two weaknesses: they use flimzy wire that breaks easily and the connections to the alligagor clip are unreliable, being often only clamped and not soldered. In contrast these units exhibit neither of these flaws and are perfect. The copper wire is a decent guage so it can tolerate considerable bending and tugging mechanically and carry moderate levels of hobby current with low voltage drop. The insulation on the wires is substantial and makes the wires durable for much handling and particularly at the points of connection to the alligator clips, which is the most common place my leads brake; the company brings the insulation into the clip and clamps the insulation and not the copper for mechanical support - the only right thing to do. And then they solder the wire to the clip on the OUTISDE of the clip where it is very clear that the solder is done right to the technician doing it - so these should not show intermittent continuity issues that I have seen with clamp-only connections. These are a great product - cost a bit more than the cheapest but worth the cost if you don't want frustration and early replacement to be needed.

Good Quality Set if you buy direct from Amazon
I was a bit concerned by some of the negative reviews, so I purchased this set direct from amazon to make sure I was getting the actual Elenco brand, and not a knock-off. I am pleased to report that it’s very satisfactory - all the leads work perfectly, and they seem to be of good quality. Some folks complained about the plastic being slippery - the ones I received are a tiny bit slippery, but no more so than other brands I have purchased in the past. It’s not a deal-breaker for me - not even close. Also, all the jaws align nicely and are easy to operate.Buy direct from amazon - or another highly reputable seller - and you’ll likely be satisfied with this set.

Not worth purchasing - wire is so fine it will not carry much current
Not worth purchasing - wire is so fine it will not carry much current. Wire gauge was not included in advertisement, but if needed to carry more than one amp for more than about 30 seconds, then they need to be doubled or tripled up. They are fine for most electronic testing, but do not work well for automotive troubleshooting applications. First time I used them I was troubleshooting a lighting circuit on a motorcycle. I thought the lead was defective and tried several others all with the same result. I then tested each lead with an ohm meter. Each lead had continuity, so I tried again using a different test lead. I discovered my test was positive, but the lights were just glowing and the lead was getting hot. I ended up using 5 leads to get normal operation of the circuit (about 1 amp on a 12 volt DC circuit), but the leads were overheating and extended operation of the circuit would result in certain failure of the test leads. I do not know the wire gauge of these leads, but will be buying more leads with a minimum of 20 gauge wire. These leads will work great on micro-electronics.

Good Quality and price
This product does exactly what it is supposed to do; I use it for small electrical projects. Quality is fairly high, and the overall usability is equally high. I most recently used them to help test a layout for LEDs to fit into a hot rod that my neighbor is building. I couldn't connect the various series of lights together permanently; however, because of these short leads I could connect the LEOS and have a reasonable working model so that I could make my measurements perfectlY. By using these small but effective clips I could then lay out the LEDs before making cuts or additions to get the custom fit. If you work on electronics much you already know how much you will use leads during a setup or experimental phas for many projects. More advanced users also know the value when repairing a board or when mocking up alternatives for your design. These are a good choice.

Beefy 20Awg Wire w/ High Quality, Soldered, Alligator Clips
Perfect length for bench testing (14-inches) with excellent 20Awg stranded wire rated at 600 volts. These are far better than most offerings and will stand up to being used to apply power as well as signal. The clips are higher quality with strong bite and teeth that mesh. The wire is both crimped AND soldered to the clip. Would buy again.

Works great but comes with minor flaws
These work as described however there's a bit of manufacturing residue on the inside of the boots that cover the alligator clips, which makes the clips very hard to grasp. I took some electronics cleaner and squirted a bit inside each boot and then swabbed the inside of em with an alcohol soaked q-tip and that seemed to remove enough of the oils as to be able to give these clips a good pinch. The soldering on the alligator clips themselves is not the best, acceptable but not great. I'll probably redo the connections at some point, either out of necessity or for fear that I'll explode while working on my tube amps. The pictures above are with the boots removed from the clips to show the shoddy solder job.

Good for small projects
I used these in a few of my circuits labs when I was working on my electrical engineering degree. They are good for putting a small amount of current through and I used them so I could more easily measure the current through portions of a circuit using a multimeter which can be tricky if you do not have another person to help you. The clips helped to hold components so I could have my hands free to use the multimeter probes. For something like that, these will work fine.

These are good soldered leads - better than what I currently have
The clips I received are made with 20 AWG wires that are soldered to the alligator clips. The wire and insulation is fairly flexible. The clips are medium quality and the springs are strong. Medium quality means they they cannot be crushed or bent with your fingers but they lack some of the extra tooling that adds strength. These leads are not as high quality as the wires and clips on Elenco's banana to alligator clip leads but they are still pretty good. Check maximum current ratings for before using them to jumper your toaster oven. 20 AWG wire is only rated for about 1.5A or 3A if you don't mind them getting a little warm. Because they are medium quality, soldered, and they are not too expensive, I gave them 5 stars.
