NOT 18" and NOT as Pictured or Described
No one likes overworking on their pool so when you order an 18" pool brush and receive a smaller brush, you realize it will take longer to brush your pool. I used to own a retail pool store and the first thought when I opened this box is, "that's the narrowest pool brush I've ever seen".So first off, this brush measures 16" in width. The overseas manufacturers like to construct things with the highest "efficiency" and lowest cost. A shorter brush costs less to make. A brush width is measured where the bristles are mounted, not the bristle extension. This 18" brush is measured end-to-end included the brush flair at the outside edges where it doesn't contact the pool surface when brushing a flat surface. Compared to my previous 18" pool brush, it's 2" narrower. Be aware, it's a skinny brush.Next, the color, construction and appearance is completely different than what's pictured. There are no screws for instance. That's not a big deal either way, just be aware, you'll receive an item not shown :-)I'm not confident this will do a good job brushing the surface either because the bristles are soft and very flexible. It's definitely NOT heavy duty. On a plaster (concrete, marcite, diamond brite, etc.) surface, you need abrasion to keep the calcium and minerals off the surface. This may not do it. You DO need a combination brush with half nylon and half steel bristles like this one. This is a cheap imposter of a good brush and a case where you're better served to get one at your local pool store. I'll be returning this one.P.S. The label on the packaging says 17.5" curved pool brush. The title and description specify 18". It is in fact a 16".

Seems nice quality-VERY IMPRESSED!
I bought a home with a severely neglected pool and this is my 3rd pool brush off Amazon. This one seems to be extremely sturdy. I bought previously the orange and blue round brush and it did nothing to remove the horrible algae all over my 27000 gal concrete pool. I'm hoping with these sturdy bristled that it will help a lot more. Dealing with a pool that i cannot see the bottom yet i will have to update after I have used this but it cannot possibly do any harm considering the other brushes dont do a thing. I will update for those out there dealing with the same problem. For reference I have fiberglass walls and concrete floor so I'm told this is fine for anything but vinyl so wait for the update and i hope it really helps. We really want to swim in our pool!Update and gave 5 stars!Went out and brushed the horrible walls of my pool and almost every spot came off! Not a budge with my other two brushes! This brush is awesome! Do not buy any other brush but this one if you have my type of pool!!!!! Sad for vinyl liner people but they can drain and new liner...we cant do that with concrete!

Good quality pool brush
I was unhappy with my nylon brush and I read that the 100% steel brushes should be used sparingly for spot cleaning. I have a Gunite pool and my pool guy said this hybrid brush would be fine to use. I have been using it for about 4 months and have not noticed any damage to the surface of the pool and stains/algae are easier to remove than with nylon only brushes. I still use it sparingly as I have a robotic pool cleaner that does the daily maintenance but for those areas where the pool cleaner has trouble reaching or areas like steps that are more prone to staining this has worked well. I have not lost any bristles yet that I noticed and the connection to my pole is secure, as good as the nylon one from my local store. I would buy it again. Not for use in all pools, definitely not for pools with liners but for concrete/Gunite pools it should be fine, as always, check with a professional or your manufacturer if you have concerns.

Great brush at a great price point.
Purchased this little guy as replacement of my old one.The casting is good. Compared to the one I had and broke, this one had better engineered ribbing structure. As a Mechanical Engineer I can see much improvements to reinforced the tube to base support that makes the "T" shape of the brush. The metal strings to the brush look durable.. After couple of months of use it is holding great. The added release push button to the plastic retainer is a great feature and avoids having to push the two lock stubs down the metal tube hole with your nails.

Wish it were wider; metal support is weak
I’ll say that I like the bristles on the brush. They are more firm than many other pool brushes I’ve used and this worked very well on my pebble tec pool surface for exactly one month. That is when the weak metal support bar snapped while in normal use. Thought I’d taken a huge gouge out of the pebble rev when it happened, but thankfully it didn’t. Anyway, this happened on the day after my return window closed. So, overall I’m dissatisfied with this brush even though it worked pretty good before it broke.

Perfect blend of wire and nylon bristles
Bought it for the brushing of a new quartz pool finish. Been using it for 7 months now and all the bristles are holding up well. the addition of the Stainless steel wire ones adds scrubbing power without scratching the surface or the ceramic pool tiles. So far, no rusting, as my pool is saltwater. Recommend.

So far it's great
I have only had this brush a couple of months, so I can't really predict how well it will hold up, but so far I'm pleased. This is the first brush I have tried that isn't all nylon. I was always concerned that a wire brush would be too abrasive on the gunite (that may not be true, but I was afraid to try it), but I saw good reviews on this hybrid brush and I thought it may be a good compromise -- not too abrasive, but more scrubbing power than a full nylon brush. Indeed that is the case, as it removes algae and light stains with much less scrubbing! For no more money than the cheap nylon brushes at my local pool store, this has been a great purchase so far!
