QED Performance Audio 40i Stereo 2 Phono TO 2 Phono Jack Cable with QED Solid Complementary Conductor™ Technology and Anamate™ RCA plugs (1m)

I use these interconnects to connect my phono stage and also my streamer DAC to my headphone amplifier. I do believe that good quality cables and connectors make a difference, but up to a reasonable point. In my opinion, these interconnects strike a good balance between price and performance. The build quality is very good and the connectors as nice and substantial. The cable is thick so plan ahead to try to avoid any very short radius cable bends in your setup. It isn't much of an issue and is a reasonable trade off for good quality cable. The best thing I can say about these interconnects is that I don't notice then having any discernible effect on the sound. I buy good cables to convey the sound/signal, not to alter it. I would recommend these cables as being effective and very good quality, especially for the price.

Performance 40i is a great interconnect not just for the money but a good all rounder, I connected it to my Marantz CD6006 cd player and Sony TAFB940R amplifier I have tried many interconnects through the years all have come up short in one area or another my most recent purchase being the Chord Clearway although a good interconnect it lacked punch, the 40i resolved this my music is exciting and enjoyable again, give it a few days to settle and the sound is second to none.

Positives: QED signature sound. Used between a Marantz cd6007 and Denon av receiver pulls a bit more detail and high end out of the mix. No loss of bass to my ears. Very good sound and quality construction. Negatives: As pointed out by other buyers the plugs are regular gold plated QED plugs therefore not the plugs advertised. Listing should be updated. As I said above they are still very good. The other negative is the item arrived not postage packed, as in there was an address label stuck straight to the box. I’m not happy with this as I expect the whole item including the manufacturer’s packaging to be protected in another box. RCA cables are guaranteed for life and the box is handy to pass them on to someone else should you chose. Also not pretty giving as a present to someone with a postage label stuck on and the corners of the box knocked up. Not good enough. So 5 stars for product minus 1 star for bad (or in this case no) packaging.

This cable replaced a cheaper cable and it as made a difference to the sound now letting more information through. So is a excellent cable would recommend.

I have QED Reference level cables on my high end hi-fi and these Performance level cables on my Marantz PM7000N, Dynaudio Emit based mid tier daily use hi-fi, sources are Teac cassette deck, Tascam CD recorder, Marantz CD player and Denon FM /DAB tuner with Sony hi Res ripping turntable. I never cease to be truly amazed at the level of detail and timing these cables deliver.

Item received and is as expected. Not yet connected.

For the money, it’s about the best available xx

Bought this QED Performance Audio 40i cable from Amazon marketplace, with Amazon dispatch. It arrived a couple of days later and on the box it said QED Performance Audio 40i. Opened the box and started to install the cables when I realised that the RCA plugs were not the Anamate type specified by QED and also specified on the Amazon web page for this item. On checking the box again I found that the description on the back said gold-plated plugs and the picture on the front showing the cable did not have the Anamate plugs, it had gold-plated plugs. I checked the specification again on the QED website and in their brochure and looked at images of the 40i cable and box on the web elsewhere. In all cases this cable and box were shown with Anamate plugs! Why? I wondered if it was a fake but it looked very sophisticated for that, and noted that the bar code label description on the box still ended with the last part of the word Anamate. I took some photos, some are included with this review, and contacted QED, who examined the photos and explained that the Anamate plugs had been discontinued in favour of the gold-plated version and that they were currently updating their website to reflect this. Later that day, 22/03/21, I noticed that most of the references to the Anamate plugs for this 40i cable had been removed. This is puzzling to me and concerning. Why after 5 years or more of extolling the virtues of the QED Anamate plugs in comparison to standard plugs do they switch back to these gold-plated plugs? Perhaps they can no longer source the Anamate plugs or get them produced any longer? Has there been a problem with them? Do they come loose after several years use, these Anamate plugs are not the locking type such as on the Reference and Signature 40 interconnects, so perhaps with only two contact leaves some loosening could have happened? Perhaps the reason is just a cost cutting exercise. In any case this is no longer the same interconnect that was previously advertised and reviewed. Does it make a difference to the sound? Maybe not, but impossible for me to check. I did listen very briefly, for about 15 minutes, to one of the cable pair and compared it with a QED Performance Graphite cable (half the price of the 40i) that I already owned. The comparison was done by alternately playing the same 20 second mono piece of Sibelius violin concerto music through left or right speaker, while connecting one of the Graphite cables to the left channel and one of the 40i cables to the right channel. Then repeating with the 40i on the left and the Graphite on the right. I could not discern any difference. The cables were connected between a Marantz AV8802A preamp processor and a Primare I35 amplifier (here being used as a power amp). It was all disappointing - I packaged up the cables and returned them to Amazon for refund as these were not the cables I ordered. Ordering these online now will be a lottery as to which 40i cable is received, the one with the gold-plated Anamate plugs or the one with ordinary gold-plated plugs?

veramente diverso dal miglior rame, subito perplesso, adesso se metto i cavi precedenti sento subito un peggioramento nei dettagli, nella morbidezza, nell'armonia! Lo riprenderò per completare i collegamenti con questo. Peccato che su Amazon non ci sia il metro e mezzo, o i due metri

Calidad qed magnífico calidad de sonido

I have been using this cable to connect my Leema CD player to my Densen pre-amp for about one and a half months. The sound is definitely several cuts above the generic cable I had been using and still improving with more usage.

Schönes Kabel Gute Dynamik, präsente Bühne. Ich nutze 2x dieser Kabel für Phono zu Preamp zu Verstärker. Sehr starr, stöhrt mich aber nicht weiter. Für mein Setup ein sinnvolles Update
